Not sure what to make of this, but the cruise I'm on a waiting list for has come back on the market at twice the price. That's the july iceland one. wtf? Looks like i wont be on that then. So managed to get booked on the queen Vic on the cruise before christmas at a reasonable price. We've done pre christams cruises before - great time to sail, low demand so low price, and as the cruise goes on, the christams decorations appear, more every day (and they are quite impressive on cunard).

Cunard have now stopped the free pre-cruise testing, so everyone has the hassle and cost of organising that - madness. Worked fine getting tested by cunard just before boarding - but now you have to negotiate the genuine and criminal test companies, and then the considerable hassle of doing the tests and getting the right paperwork in tight timescales.

I would refer you to buywell3's chart above (post 3884) and his most recent channel. If we read this right the price has hit the bottom of the channel and we could expect a rise now to just over 13.00. I am not a TA pundit but I have my fingers crossed. Any comment? S

Thanks for that, reassuring they don't need to use all the sale proceeds for running costs

It isn't like a usual share buy back. This was from the last full year results:

"During 2021, under the Stock Swap Program, we sold 8.9 million shares of Carnival Corporation's common stock and repurchased the same amount of Carnival plc ordinary shares resulting in net proceeds of $19 million, which were used for general corporate purposes."

Which seems like a reasonable bit of business even if $19M is drop in the ocean in the scheme of things.

Thanks, it's a shame we can't see how many US shares are being sold to fund the buy back

It's confusingly called a cash return to shareholders. No, or little, direct benefit to CCL itself, but a benefit to shareholders due to the price being driven higher by the buys. Bye bye.Indirect benefits are a demonstration of the cash generation, s willingness to return excess cash to holders, more tax efficient debt/cash/accounts etc.

Never thought we'd see sub £10 again, massive recession being priced into markets and no places to hide

It's when the price opens higher or lower than the previous day and leaves a "gap" on the charts. On the 17/2 it closed at 1531 and the next day opened lower than that and hasn't yet returned to that price to "close the gap".Some don't believe in it, others do. Either way it's a marker to watch for.

I tried tracking the buys a sells against what Merrill Lynch are buying for Carnival, I would have thought they would all show, blue as buys but they don't. Checking yesterday's Carnival buys some are shown as red. Anyone know why this is the case.

I didn't expect the 1093 to get hit so quick, but on the plus side there's one to the upside at 1531 from the 17/02.

You could be right, but over the last 12 months I've traded it right most times and I'm well in profit, so can afford to sit tight. I can't see the sellers being short sellers at this price if they are, good luck to them, the other sellers must be selling at a loss, unfortunately for them. Time will tell, the price movement is linked directly to Wall Street movements.

Your timing isn't the best, sometimes i think the way to win is to do the opposite of whatever feels right at the time. So as this falls towards lows we should be joining the party not buying more
