It's only a matter of time before it breaks out, once occupancy on board gets back to respectable levels revenue will grow, a third of revenue is onboard sales

Ok! Understood - the trend over the last five years is down. BUT! Could it not be said that the substantial drop in share price in March 2020 was due to Covid followed by the worlds cruise ships parked up for nine months - never before heard of. Then the second drop (red lines above) with many investors on here trading the channel explained with first the second major dose of Covid followed by the current war, this has hit all markets . When you remember that it's all in the price. I think that providing nothing major happens then we are on the way up from here, an extremely low price level. Finally, from a chart point of view the chart above, without the aforementioned noise, does say the price should be closer to £20. S

I've topped up too. Also booked a cheap Iona cruise to get some sun in January. 740 squids for 14 nights in large seaview cabin, bigger and better than balconies on iona. Incredible. Even at those prices CCL rake in the cash.

Sorry you didn't get the cruising bug (that's a like for cruising, not covid). The things which seem to have put you off are all easily fixable. Extortionate tips - take them off (I don't because i get lots of on board credit which covers them and more). Remember it's basically slave labour and the waiters etc support their families back home and need and deserve the extra tips. Or halve them as a compromise. Drinks - stupid prices and a stupid tip on top after you've already paid extortionate tips. On our last qe cruise, they have specials on at the bar - $3 a pint of stella iirc, plus others. Certainly i can't see anyone gaining from a drinks package, makes no sense whatsoever to me. We don't drink much anyhow, and just really have drinks to cover the on board credit. After the fare, we have no departing bill to pay. Having said tht, the days of high obc are over now (unless you book your next cruise on board). They no longer sell future cruise deposits (which together with the shareholder benefit make $800/$900 obc for a 2 week cruise) so we'll have to reassess our approach to cunard cruises (we have 2 fcd left to use).

Internet - well you get that free (8h i think) after you've done several cruises. Until then, it's quite a relief getting away from the internet for a few days (on shore you can use data for a couple of quid per 24h period (sky)). Used to be free until recently.

Photos - couldn't talk the mrs out of the very first one, but never have them at all now. No hassle from photographers - they can sense when they stand no chance at all of flogging a photo.

I suggest you try another cruise without these massive ripoffs and see if it's more enjoyable then. The very same cruise can be very cheap or very expensive.

Just another point - after our 1st cunard cruise, about 3 months later we got an offer of lots of obc if we went again. I think it may be their policy to offer obc to first time cunard cruisers if they don't book another cruise in a certain time. So it my be worth waiting for 3/6 months to see if they still send out that offer.

Just back from our QE2 cruise, still not sure if cruising is for us. Ship, spotlessly clean, food in the main restaurant as good as I've had anywhere. Two categories of cruisers, people who only ever cruise and there are a lot of them, then the newbies, like us. A 12 day cruise = 275 dollars gratuity package (you can opt out if you wish, only if you know you can opt out) Drinks package 1600 dollars, if you don't take that a 15 percent charge on all drinks, you don't need the soft drinks package as you can get coffee/soft drinks for free in the Lido. Gala night photo 30 dollars for one photo 10 dollars if you also want the photo digitally. Daily internet charge of 15 dollars.Carnival need to target the untapped newbie group, as the other group know all the angles and will carry on cruising whatever the cost

I've never heard the 'butlins at sea' accusation of p&o. The chefs must have improved at butlins since i last went. I see it more for those with the double carer/incapacity benefit, which seems enough to sail the world these days. (Strangely, very few wheelchairs on my last iona cruise, in contrast to most p&o I've been on).

'Butlins at sea' the sort of thing Cunard cruisers would say, not realising they are just a small step up from p&o and a long way down from many 6 star lines these days. Cunard is for the masses too, that's why i'm often on them. Just waiting for the balcony on the 14 day transatlantic (a few hours in NY only) to come down (insides are cheap) and i'll try to talk my mrs on it.

I too liked Iona. More 'industrial' or functional or minimalist than any cunard ship, but the decor reflects the price - don't expect millions of quid's worth of art on the walls like others. Food excellent i thought. Why go to a paid for restaurant on a formal night, when you get lobster etc in the mdrs that night (or at least at the 'chef's table' for those in the know.

Amazing design fault in that infinity pool! The designers should be ashamed, how did that get through all the qa? The feature i didn't like was no dance floor (apart from a tiny one off the stage in one venue).

I see what you mean about the bars - they just are a certain area with a sign of the main atrium, not really bars or restaurants, just a few tables called 'the glass house' or whatever. (wine flight almost undrinkable, not sure what went wrong there. snacks there very good we thought. cheapest wine in mdr excellent, but a rip off as you'd expect.)

Very cheap iona cruises on offer atm. probably the p&o ferry effect.

9/10 - taking price into account.

Bought more ccl today - i think they're on the verge of a general recovery over the coming years, and the buyback will help short/medium term.

An issue no-one is addressing is whether P&O have bought a very expensive lemon with the Iona and potentially with Arvia. I certainly will restrict my cruising to the older ships in future.

Look at cruise critic - hxxps://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/memberreviews/getreviews.cfm?action=ship&ShipID=1210 and I haven't added my comments yet. A new ship should not be attracting such (well deserved) negativity. No doubt some here will claim it's a great ship really. But for a fun holiday it is not, and a fun holiday is what I pay for. A floating glorified Costa Coffee shop is how it felt at times.

A few small issues (amongst many) but it is the detail that matters. On one formal night I dined in the £28 surcharge dining room. Underwhelming. Of the potential 80 covers there were 12 diners. For £28 I expected a significantly better than average meal and some ambiance. I got neither.
I wanted to play deck games, but 'sorry sir solo passengers cannot play, company policy on all new ships'. Note Covid was not being blamed for a change.

I have no doubt P&O have aimed the ship at a particular focus group and it needs time to settle in. It remains to be seen whether that sort of cruiser spend the cash required for a profit or whether P&O get a reputation of not being able to deliver a true cruise experience to a wide audience.

P&O have a reputation of being 'Butlins on sea'. If only.

ccl seem to be a poster boy for economic news now, given the ceo says they will be back to full speed by next year and that they are at record booking levels combined with their buyback..this is looking like an easy double.....the worry was a rights issue, surely with the buy back this is off the table?

Talk about a classic head fake, after yesterday was looking so positive despite the airlines in the gutter, down we go with them today and the momentum killed again. You'd think this might do relatively better than the airlines with good booking trends emerging but doesn't look like it's going back to the recent highs any time soon?

Pierre. The Cunard (and P&O) websites usual match the offers as above. Unfortunately I have to pay a hefty premium for travelling alone (cheaper than getting married again) and having a balcony. Usually IGLU is £50 cheaper and Hays £50 dearer than going direct. Be on top of the prices if using IGLU as they change as you speak but they are open to a bit of bartering. Prefer to use Hays with the form filling as we have had lately.
Agree Lisbon is attractive if you explore. Tip on the tram - get on at the start as it can be busy and not pick up further down the road.
I wonder if Portugal has re-joined the rest of the world re Covid as my recent Iona trip skipped both Lisbon and Madeira.
