Just for youA message from P&O Cruises As Britain's favourite cruise line, your loyalty, advocacy and support has always meant the world to us. P&O Cruises has been part of Carnival Corporation & plc for over 20 years and has no connection to P&O Ferries. Our thoughts go out to all those affected by yesterday's news. However, please be assured it's business as usual on our cruises and our crew look forward to welcoming you on board soon.

Expected to announce an 8800% increase in revenue from last year, from 26 million dollars to 2.2 billion dollars, it will be interesting what the current occupancy is and when they will be back to pre Covid occupancy figures. The April cruise on the QE2 is fully booked, not sure of what occupancy level they are taking

Lovely, that's the next couple of cruises paid for. How lucky is that. Not selling yet, i feel it has quite a bit further to go.

Cruising to be resumed in Australia 17 April - announced today.

No masks required on Princess from yesterday

No plfs required for uk from end of this month - another bugbear gone.

I bought more on the Aussi situation. Lots of pent up demand for cruises going there from Europe, and vv.

Shopping in St Martin? What a waste when Maho beach is a few miles away where you can get sand blasted by the exhaust from departing jets a few metres away, and they nearly take your head off as they land. Such fun! Hang onto the railings and 'don't stand here' signs very tightly though else you could get killed as several unfortunate plane spotters have.

----

Having done a bit more probing, i think, but not sure, that fcds are still for sale on Princess cruises (anyone confirm?) - if so I'll be buying a load in June when we're on board. The wheeze may be clinging onto life in princess, having been withdrawn from p&o and cunard.

Thanks guys and very much appreciated. Pierre, you should consider writing a guide to booking a cruise, It would sell well.
How cruising has changed. I remember arriving at St Maarten in the Caribbean and being tendered into the beach at Phillipsburg. In those days the now thriving streets of shops were a few wooden shacks scattered along a track which made up the strip. Now they have two piers which can accommodate 8 cruise ships ( horrible). Mind you the shopping is great.
Having just retired I was booked on the Spirit of Adventure for a five week bash around the Caribbean with Saga, there and back. Unfortunately I had to cancel due to unforeseen problems two weeks before sailing. I understand that the ship was two days away from Antiqua before having to turn around.
Again - many thanks. S

Sardine, others have answered what you get and how you get it.

Sometimes, they are tough on evidence of your 100 share holding. Easy if you have the cert or a screenshot with your name and holding on the same page. My online account doesn't have a page like that and in the past i've had trouble supplying acceptable evidence.

I've now got an arrangement with my broker that i send them all the info required, and they forward it to shareholderbenefits with confirmation that i own 100 shares, and that has worked well for the last couple of cruises.

The other bigger wheeze was the future cruise deposit, which has now unfortunately stopped for p&o (a few years ago) and cunard ( less than a year ago). By making a £50 deposit on an unlnown future cruise while on a cruise, we regularly got an extra $600 on board credit for the 2 week cruises we usually go on (mainly because the obc was far greater than what was paid for less than 2 weeks). We bought 8 (4 each) before covid, but 2 booked cruises with the obc got cancelled, and the obc is 'lost'. We used 2 on our recent cruise, and have 2 fcd left (meaning 1 more cash rich cruise!). Pity they're now history - all what's left is the much less generous shareholder benefit.

I don't often post on this thread but I am a serious holder of ccl and saga, although none of the latter at present. I have about twenty p&o cruises under my belt along with seven Cunard. Owing to my recent vocation, these were all taken feb/mar and oct/nov, the only time I could get a break. I have been a shareholder for years but was, before you posted, never aware of a shareholder's discount. If you have time please could you let me know what's on offer and how do you go about attaining it.

Best ever cruise - P&O Victoria, New Orleans to Barbados 97
2nd best - Ancient Places - Queen Victoria
Worst ( Not the cruise but the service) UK - Hamburg and back, Queen Victoria Queen's Grill, Jan 20.

regards S

I thought you could opt out of the daily tips payment a# long as you tell them as soon as you are on board, and do your own tipping

sorry, i was liking the 30ppd package to what the components cost, drinks alone on p&o is £40, wifi and tips on most cruise lines are about 15-20 per day, so if you always buy those the drinks package is costing about 15 vs 40, so all you can drink all day, decent coffees etc for the price of two drinks

Just checked the offer on the cruise we've booked, and the wifi/booze/tips is £30pppd, meaning £720. No need for wifi round the uk, wife doesn't drink much, so looks like i'll give it a miss, and just pay as we go. Tips a bit stupid i think, $12.5 pppd, so $290, with little obc to compensate.

pierrewe had our first cruise on princess in october, surprised at the main dining room food not being as good as p&o and the buffet coming up short against royal, but on balance our favourite, ship was at a very high standard, the medallion system is fantastic and the drink/wifi/tips package was amazing value - meaning all the good quality booze you can drink for about £15 or less per day....

Article in the Telegraph today titled "The British golden age of cruise travel is back: Inside Cunard's first ship in a decade". About new Cunard ship Queen Anne. Looks very nice indeed.
