25/5/2022 16:21 | pierreagreed, apols i took your post to mean the cruise industry would be the main earner for them...covid really has took the wind out the cruise industry and anyone picking the winners down here will do really well | ![]() stansmith3
25/5/2022 16:20 | And btw there's little doubt that carnival would have been bust the last couple of years were the Saudis not minded to save it. Just like now, cash is no problem and going bust isn't on the cards for the same reason. For those who can look ahead 2yeard, this is a goldmine one way or the other. Do a bofp calculation to see how cash generative cruising is at full capacity (or even half capacity). | pierre oreilly
25/5/2022 16:16 | Stan, it won't replace all the oil income, just some of it. They'll take on other industries too, not sure what. There aren't many of them, and they have no expertise in anything else. Cruising is the obvious industry for them. Lovely, I see the middle East for me for a few weeks to escape the English winter. Sweating their asset of the sun. | pierre oreilly
25/5/2022 15:40 | Looks like we have a bounce on the trend line and RSI very oversold. Here's hoping it continues onwards and upwards. | smurfy2001
25/5/2022 12:35 | Smurfy, I was looking at that too. Seems significant resistance at that level. There was discussion about the Norwegian Cruise news being the catalyst of the drop yesterday. Looking at volumes it may have triggered a call and an institutional position needed to be sold down. News of interest are new debt being taken on at 10% interest. Norwegian Cruise news closing Asia (don't know whether this includes Australia) sale of Seabourne to Saudi Wealth fund (still speculation) | ![]() berny3
25/5/2022 11:45 | Well I've got 2 cruises booked anyway Thinking of doing the Princess med cruise in August out of Piraeus too ! | ![]() panshanger1

25/5/2022 11:24 | well done CCL. I didn't think you could do it but you've surpassed by expectations. 6 down days in a row! | ![]() technowiz
25/5/2022 09:49 | jan-marcruising is a nice earner for sure and the saudis certainly have a can do think big attitude, but they will need more than cruising to make up for their trillion dollar oil habit | ![]() stansmith3
25/5/2022 09:36 | The company still buying 2 million pounds worth of shares a day | ![]() jan-mar
25/5/2022 09:31 | It couldn't replace the whole oil income but along with other tourism activities it would replace some of it, along with world wide property purchase and other non oil business activities | ![]() jan-mar
25/5/2022 09:26 | cunard is a fraction of carnival, carnival make what 5-8 billion on a good year, how does that make up for hundreds of billions of oil profits? | ![]() stansmith3
25/5/2022 08:54 | Cash no problem, they are backed by the Saudis. Eventually, cruising will replace oil as the big earner for their country. Seabourne is just the start, I believe this has been the Saudi plan for years. Brands like Cunard are worth billions. Imv, they'll see how seabourne goes under their control, and in a couple of years buy the lot. Btw, not a new convenient view, I've posted this several times before over the years. Covid probably delayed things. | pierre oreilly
25/5/2022 08:40 | This company to hit early Covid lows before then breaking itself up. Ships being built, debt colossal, albeit matched by diminishing assets. Difficult to see how it will cope with short/medium term debt maturities, as seen by recent new issue of debt at a 10% lending rate. Very difficult times ahead with inflation in fuel, food costs, and difficult to pass them on to customers in these straightened times. Notwithstanding everything else that is current. | ![]() bookbroker
25/5/2022 08:37 | You would have thought the company would have made some comment about the price movement | ![]() jan-mar
25/5/2022 08:36 | Maybe that's been the plan all along | ![]() jan-mar
25/5/2022 08:31 | seems pretty well documented in the news. We should hear from the company on this in my mind. There was news out yesterday that Norwegian Cruises were cancelling Asian cruises. Not sure what this impact is on Carnival perhaps somebody more knowledgeable could share. | ![]() berny3
25/5/2022 08:30 | Saudis should just buy the lot at these prices 😂 | smurfy2001
25/5/2022 08:09 | Interesting to see how the Saudi Wealth fund has been building a sizeable stake in the company. | ![]() berny3
25/5/2022 08:04 | Exactly the right thing to do in this climate. | ohsod1t
