I always found trading margin a useful tool, the secret of course is to hold the risk money on deposit with the CFD company to cover any market shocks.. like the time Moss screwed me over while I was cycling in Spain with no Internet :-(

They get recorded as sales if the buying action is by accepting stock at bid prices (i.e. the bidders are buying). The aggregate of all sells always has a corresponding aggregate of buyers.

95% sale so far. So who is buying?

Oh forgot. Never ever trade on margin in these markets - you can see when people have and its dead easy to take them out by forcing stop-losses to cascade down.

Thanks Eurofox I'm not really much of a trader, more a long term holder here. I did pick up a few more at 280 the other day, not quite the 260 you managed though well done.

This looks like being a very high volume day (over 55 million traded so far) - perhaps an overhang being cleared?

Watch level 2 and in particular, VWAP (Volume Weighted Average Price). Plus, never buy above VWAP (as many clowns do first thing in the morning). Always buy, unless there is bad news, when the offer price is at what looks like an unreasonable discount to the current VWAP. Always keep plenty of powder dry. Sell (only out of trading tranche) when bid price is at what looks like an unrealistic premium to VWAP. Always keep hold of a core holding that you are comfortable with because things move too fast when upward events happen for the quantities that I hold.

Sale on the news might be a good strategy as market does not want higher price even on good news.

I think that a 4%/5% yield is a bit ambitious.
AV has a reputation for cutting dividends , having done so several times in the recent past. circa 7% more likely.
If payout is 24p that would indicate a price of circa 340p, we must wait for
the dividend policy confirmation 'sometime' in Q4

Rebasing the divi is just a way of shafting long term shareholders who have also watched as the share price slowly declines to a shadow of its former self.

I have only had time to glance at the general insurance results. Completely shameless kitchen sink exercise on reserves (unless they were previously the subject of professional misconduct by the Group Actuary!). Prior year reserves strengthened in UK and Europe, something which I never expect to see in a properly reserved company. So we can safely say that AB has used reserve setting in GI to keep declared profit below true numbers and give herself a war chest.

Not a complaint. Previously predicted and something any new CEO would have done. For the market this does not matter with the divi resumption.

I don't think they are moving to quarterly ones - the "second interim" is just bad phrasing as it is basically the normal payment at this time for 2020 and isn't really a catch up for the cancelled 2019 final - unlike DLG. There may be a special div at the year end possibly, but more likely just a rebased final only - probably c14p.

1robbob, even better in that case. 360p - 450p range looks even more conservative with 4 x 6p quarterly divis. The quarterly divi approach is the preference of shareholders these days so ticks another box. Less time between divi payments for worriers to speculate about cuts.
