08/8/2020 13:02 | I too favour quarterly dividends. 6p per payout would be a good starting point. spud | spud
08/8/2020 12:00 | OK on Erica Arnold...have seen the FT comment but nothing really official anywhere I can see..but if she has gone then so be it as plenty of talent available. Agree that Aviva needs to see the start of our new CEO plans with some asset re-allocation/sells, and even a strategic acquisition that will be revenue generating from day one. Once we see some market credible action then perhaps we will move to a more respectful rating. I would personally be happy to see 4q dividends of 6p but with statement that this will be a new base for future dividend growth. The past is the past and the passing of the Y/E dividand can be seen as a prudent decision that affords greater financial flexibility with greater upside to come...re-establishi | ![]() cyberian

08/8/2020 08:27 | Erica Arnold: hasta la vista, AvivaDoors revolve quickly at Aviva. Last week, chief exec Maurice Tulloch departed after a year in the job, to be replaced by non-exec Amanda Blanc. Now chief operating officer Erica Arnold is on the way out - having only come into the role in January. Returning to head office from Aviva's Irish business is Nick Amin, who used to be?.?.?.?chief operations and IT officer. It's enough to make you dizzy?.?.?.? | ![]() 10acious

07/8/2020 21:29 | Went to see my private doctor today for annual diabetic checks and he seems to agree with me that most of the reaction since end of April has been over the top; he said they much better understand how to cope with hospitalized cases now and the death rates are no worse than flu. | ![]() eurofox
07/8/2020 20:34 | I would have strongly disagreed with you until case obsession and zero COVID idiocy took hold. Testing for loads of old and uninfectious cases and Subsequently locking down and quarantining is peak covid madness. The cherry on top are the zero covid nutters like we can stop a cold like illness flowing through humans and animals. Therefore sadly I agree with you that unnecessarily we are doomed to a multi year recession rather than a v shaped that a flu like system deserved | ![]() cjac39
07/8/2020 16:45 | Spud - "the Market has seen the lows and is slowly returning to normal service? " Was thinking the same (BA. also resumed divi) But I think it will be a slow return, no V shaped recovery in my book, apart from a few companies benefiting from the new way of working (from home etc) | ![]() losos

07/8/2020 15:48 | Dare I say it and tempt fate but with a major F100 like Aviva resuming dividends, does this not signal a green light that the Market has seen the lows and is slowly returning to normal service? Hmmm, now where's my cheque book....spud | spud

07/8/2020 15:30 | Hope you are right; I cannot imagine she was a candidate for the top job, but I was surprised at Blanc's appointment so it is possible. But if they were the two main candidates it shows remarkably insular thinking even for Aviva. You would have thought they would have looked outside to city heavyweights (whether the city be London or elsewhere) for alternatives. | ![]() wba1
07/8/2020 15:12 | wba1 . Erica's departure was not well circulated. She may have decided to leave herself for greener pastures or she may have been peeved at not getting top job herself. So maybe presumptive to presume she was dismissed due to vengeance, ability Or other. There is usually shuffling of seats whenever top job changes hands. In any case I’m feeling better about AB , much better then Tulloch but that’s not saying much :) | ![]() whatsup32
07/8/2020 14:57 | For some reason I had missed the departure of Erica Arnold - and it bothers me. Whilst she was a Tulloch appointment she had a good reputation at Zurich and was seen as a big step up on her predecessor who, if reports are to be believed, has been brought back from Irish exile - the exile being well deserved based on what he had achieved. I do not know the reasons for her departure (after only 6 months at Aviva) and I hope it was her choice. The alternative is that Blanc did not want a pretender to the role of Queen around Aviva. I cannot believe Blanc pushed her out based on ability or performance. The latter is far too early to judge and Blanc knows her ability as she came from Zurich herself. There is a big difference between a decisive CEO (good) and a vengeful CEO. I hope Blanc is the former, but am concerned if she chose to dismiss someone she knows to be good, based on that person having been appointed by Tulloch and having previously been close to the Zurich hierarchy who pushed Blanc out. | ![]() wba1

07/8/2020 12:59 | Future guidance on dividends is inaccurate as company has already stated it will be rebased . Just for debate let’s say 21p for the full year . At £3 per share yield 7% . Not bad | ![]() whatsup32

07/8/2020 12:38 | It is quite obvious from the recent comments on this BB that the Bears are on the run....at last!! And silence from the Chartists!!! But let us not get carried away. AV has not become a growth stock overnight It is , however, a solid boring company in one of the very few industries with fundimentals all pointing in the right direction. We also have, at long last, a CEO who is showing....LEADERSHI The dividend will undoubtedly be reduced, but the subsequent yield will be very useful indeed Just remember in September we will be receiving a 6p dividend that none of us, without exception, expected. | ![]() 1robbob |
