PARIS--The leaders of Germany and France on Monday called on Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to present proposals urgently to the eurozone that would allow money to start flowing again to Athens and keep Greece in the currency bloc.

"It's now up to the government of Alexis Tsipras to make proposals -- serious, credible -- so that this willingness to remain in the eurozone can be realized, with a long-lasting program," French President Francois Hollande said, with German Chancellor Angel Merkel standing beside him.

Ms. Merkel was in Paris for an emergency meeting with Mr. Hollande after Greek voters overwhelmingly rejected a bailout program proposed by the government's creditors.

"We respect the decision of the referendum," Ms. Merkel said.
