PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/
-- Ernesto's Italian Restaurant recently made history by
becoming the first Purple Table Reservation restaurant on the West
Coast. Ernesto's is helping to get the word out about Purple Table
Reservation restaurants in honor of World Alzheimer's Month, an
international campaign by Alzheimer's Disease International (ADI)
to raise awareness and challenge the stigma that surrounds
dementia.
This special reservation restaurant training program is designed
for people who are living with Dementia/Alzheimer's Disease,
Autism, PTSD, TBI, a hearing or vision impairment, or other
physical or cognitive condition that may benefit from a more
predictable environment and additional accommodations when dining
out.
"I was approached by a regular guest who had heard of the
program and thought of our restaurant. After doing some research
and talking with my wife Karen and our staff I realized how many of
us are affected by these terrible afflictions. We felt this was one
way we could serve the community," said Chris Wegner, owner of Ernesto's Italian
Restaurant, which is located at 8544 SW Apple Way, Portland, OR 97225.
When making a Purple Table Reservation, patrons can be assured
the restaurant and its staff will go above and beyond to make their
dining out experience enjoyable and successful. There is a Purple
Table app that gives participating restaurants contact information.
When people call to make the reservation, they use the code word
"Purple Table," which tells the restaurant's team they need to have
special accommodations for that party discreetly. Ernesto's will
provide the accommodations that work best, along with a little
extra patience and attention from its staff who have been trained
to understand different needs and how to best try and
accommodate.
For over thirty years, Ernesto's has offered a cozy atmosphere
that is both family friendly and appealing to adults. Its owners
take pride in creating a place for friends and family together.
