SEOUL, South Korea, Jan.
23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- To mark
its landmark 40th anniversary this year, Grand Hyatt
Seoul has been renovating its spaces and launching unique services
to support its overriding aim of staging and orchestrating the best
of what the world has to offer and creating spectacular, innovative
experiences, both big and small.
Striving to cement its position as the leading hotel for lavish,
magnificent celebrations in the South Korean capital, Grand Hyatt
Seoul launched Grand Hyatt Weddings 2018 earlier this month.
Grand Hyatt Weddings aims to offer spectacular celebration concepts
to inspire guests and showcase the event creativity and capability
of Grand Hyatt Seoul.
Many couples dream of an outdoor wedding, but due to weather or
location, this is not always a practical option. Grand Hyatt
Weddings has therefore devised a revolutionary inaugural series of
wedding concepts, where the outside will be brought indoors, in
ingenious fashion. Following a garden theme, the four sensational
concepts - Royal (mint and peach), Blossom (pink and grey),
Enchanted (emerald and gold) and Lavender (purple and green) - will
be immersive, multi-sensory experiences using customized video and
animation; bespoke scent; specially composed music; and
breathtaking arrangements of flowers and foliage that will combine
to feel just as good, if not better, then being outdoors.
Drawing from many decades of experience staging, tens of
thousands of weddings (Hyatt Asia Pacific hosts some 2,500 weddings
a year), and working with leading artisans in the event industry,
Hyatt has pulled together an outstanding 'dream team' from all
corners of the globe to create the myriad elements comprising Grand
Hyatt Weddings. It has gathered creatives and professionals at the
very top of their game in event production, scenography, video
mapping, music composition, floral design, scent creation, table
styling, graphic design, cake design, sugar artistry, food styling,
wine curation, drinks mixology, ice carving, uniform design,
photography, videography and editing. Working with these industry
leaders - the best of the best - Event Design Studio has created
wedding concepts that focus on the guest experience and take
details beyond the table into a magical, immersive experience.
A French digital artist who has created video mapping for La
Scala opera house in Milan, the
Palace of Versailles in
Paris, the Megaron concert hall in
Athens and fashion brands such as
Hermès and Christian Dior has created breathtaking imagery that
will provide an ever-changing visual backdrop to Grand Hyatt
Weddings. Working with selected musicians from the Hong Kong
Philharmonic, a composer who has devised original music for EMI and
myriad leading multinational brands, has reworked four classical
pieces traditionally associated with wedding processionals -
Wedding March, Canon in D Major, Air on the G-String and
Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring - to complement each concept.
Meanwhile, a music stylist has created play-lists to accompany the
entire event from cocktails to dinner to dancing. A French scent
specialist based in Monaco has
crafted subtle dry scents to complement each of the four wedding
concepts, providing olfactory ambiance to pre-function areas.
Outstanding cakes have been created by the UK-educated Shanghainese
designer behind baked confections for a host of high-profile events
and celebrity weddings, including the ten-foot tall, nine-layer,
carousel-shaped cake created for A-list actors Huang Xiaoming and Angelababy.
To add to the exclusiveness of Grand Hyatt Weddings, a vast
array of furniture and equipment has been created specifically for
the concepts, from elegant trolleys for canapés and petits
fours to rattan breadbaskets shaped to serve French baguettes
to a custom-made Champagne tower designed to effortlessly hold
magnum-sized bottles.
Almost every aspect of the concepts can be personalized by the
wedding couple, from using their own logo in the stationery to
adding photographs to the decorations or cookies to incorporating
their favorite songs in the musical play-lists.
To keep anticipation levels high, and add to the Grand Hyatt
Weddings portfolio, Event Design Studio will launch a new
collection of concepts every January. Now, weddings of the highest
order - typically available only to tycoons, multi-millionaires and
celebrities - will be accessible at Grand Hyatt Seoul through Grand
Hyatt Weddings.
"With Grand Hyatt Weddings, our overriding aim is for the
wedding couple and guests to end the evening feeling as if they
have experienced the most spectacular and memorable wedding of
their lives," says Grand Hyatt Seoul General Manager Adrian Slater. "Single guests will leave wanting
to book a Grand Hyatt Wedding for themselves while married guests
will wish their own wedding had been half as magnificent. For one
day, they will feel they have been transported to another world,
one where love is in full bloom."

Storyboard
From the guests' perspective, the tone is set and their
experience with Grand Hyatt Weddings at Grand Hyatt Seoul begins
many months before the big day, when they receive a unique,
elegantly designed invitation through the mail.
When the big day arrives, as guests enter Grand Hyatt Seoul,
they are welcomed by smart attendants dressed in contemporary
interpretations of the bellboy uniform of double-buttoned jacket,
pillbox hat and white gloves.
Guests are ushered into the glamorous Ballroom Foyer, furnished
with circular tufted banquette seating, abundant floral
arrangements and flickering candelabras set atop pedestals. Those
with olfactory acuity may notice that the space is subtly scented
and depending on the garden concept chosen, they might detect notes
of lavender, freesia, shiso herb or white musk. In the Ballroom
Foyer, guests can enjoy delightful canapés and a flute of Champagne
or a custom-designed cocktail. They may refer to the seating chart,
designed to coordinate with the invitations, menus, place cards and
table numbers, or snap a selfie in front of the striking photo
backdrop to share on social media.
A regal gong resonates, and guests are shepherded into the Grand
Ballroom. Under dim lighting, audible gasps can be heard as guests
first witness the digital imagery being projected onto giant
screens erected along the stage.
After guests are seated, they are treated to a spectacular show
that transports them on a mesmerizing journey, sweeping through
regal gardens, up into the sky and on to outer space, culminating
in more fantastical astrological and kaleidoscopic
imagery.
The show serves as a dramatic prelude to the big reveal - the
grand entrance of the bride and groom. As the wedding couple enters
the ballroom to the emotional musical backdrop of their chosen
processional piece, the screens will reflect the garden concept
chosen, whether a long pergola draped in fluttering cherry blossom;
a magical enchanted forest with flickering fireflies; a field of
lavender quivering in the breeze; or verdant manicured,
Versailles-style gardens dotted with statuary and fountains.
On stage, an exquisite wedding cake is flanked by floral
arrangements and ornate candelabra, all placed atop transparent
pedestals so that they appear suspended in the air.
As the lights come up, guests will take in the stunning table
settings in front of them, comprising breathtaking floral displays
and unique show-plates, napkins rings and cutlery, carefully
sourced to coordinate with the wedding concept. With the emerald
and gold Enchanted theme, for instance, guests' names are elegantly
handwritten in gold calligraphy on slices of agate - a highly
unique wedding favor and keepsake for guests.
Six carefully considered menus - four Western, two Chinese -
have been conceived for guests to choose in their entirety or
customize, with courses devised to complement each of the
botanically themed concepts. The Blossom theme includes foie-gras
cherry and cherry-tomato caprese canapés; cherry-blossom ice
cream and freeze-dried cherry-blossom crisp for dessert; and
cherry-flavored marshmallows, macarons and lamingtons as petit
fours. The Enchanted menu features canapés of black-forest ham and
mushroom tarts with black truffle and a deconstructed black-forest
dessert comprising chocolate sponge, kirsch jelly and cherry
sherbet in an impressive chocolate dome. Meanwhile, the Royal menu
is a veritable roll call of decadent delicacies including salmon,
foie gras, truffles, scallops, caviar, crab, veal and Champagne
sherbet. Dessert is a lavish buffet bounteous with sweet treats
including King Cake (crown-shaped
sweet bread with a trinket hidden inside), a towering croque en
bouche, a strawberry tower, mille-feuille, pralines and a live
soufflé station.
In the kitchen, the focus is on using fresh ingredients of the
highest quality, locally sourced, seasonal and organic wherever
possible. Dishes are exquisitely styled and a feast for all the
senses - with the Enchanted menu, for instance, dry ice is used to
evoke early-morning mist, dishes are served on wooden plates
garnished with greenery and petit fours are presented on a bed of
moss.
After the most memorable of meals, the cake is dramatically lit
for the cake-cutting ceremony, while animated imagery of falling
floral petals is projected on the screen behind, enhancing the
romance and magic of the symbolic moment.
A custom-made Champagne tower, designed to effortlessly hold
oversized magnums, offers a new twist on the show-stopping fizzy
fountain. After the Champagne has rained down to fill all the
glasses, they are served to guests for the toasts.
During the evening, the musical play-list morphs from classical
during cocktails to jazz during the meal to pop for dancing.
After an unforgettable evening, guests reluctantly depart,
helping themselves from trays of customized, exquisitely decorated
cookies and lollipops as a sweet memento.
