In the grand sweep of VRS history these 1 share sales late on a Friday and dummy buy and sell prices and , my biggest turn off "MM's tricks" will be mole hills on the flood planes of the mountains of what really matters.

Regarding graphite/graphene activity in Sweden (see recent posts about Leading Edge Materials), here’s a wonderful piece of research for those looking forward into battery materials:

It confirms that LEM are heavily into high quality graphite, not yet graphene, and also mentions that old chestnut Talga who have graphite interests in Sweden.

Apart from that, a good read for a rainy day!

I once had a ‘lottery ticket’ sized punt in LEM, but it looked too early stage and fairly full of BS for me.

SG, Lucky,

There’s more chance of the FCA investigating the 1 share trade at 137.5 than the fall in VRS shares immediately after the results.

The MMs will say the company made a loss, there are no financial forecasts, so we marked the shares down defensively - it’s our risk capital so we decide the price. I don’t have a problem with that as long as the MMs will provide a two way price at all times. If MMs just banged the price to flush out weak holders or trigger stops and weren't offering any shares, then the book should be thrown at them, as that’s not creating an orderly market which is an MM responsibility.

I’d like to listen in to the FCA phone call to whoever traded 1 share at 137.5p last week!

Lucky it's simple system or the FCA and they do keep a eye on MMs. The 1 trade would lead back to the source be it an MM or and individual, there is no hiding from it.

MMs I'm told by an MM are not allowed to move the price to go on a hunt for stock. So what happened on the 110p dip where many here tried but simply couldn't get the stock.

SPs work on supply and demand so that looked like an illegal hunt for stops and margins to get stock.

Further evidenced by the strong bounce showing they had no stock.

So imo and that of others MMs stepped over the mark and perhaps an individual involved too.

It would be nice if the FCA and AIM finally did something, although it is pretty unlikely. IQE would be a prime example of the not so subtle tactics and games, hope it does well for the holders there.

I agree spike, as i've suggested in previous posts and today, the register within the 'characterisation service' will likely reveal all and the end result will be as you and i have described. But to laymen like ourselves, we don't know for sure, we are making assumptions. But IF membership if the US 'verification service' is dependent upon iso standards criteria, the whole world can see it for themselves, because it will be obvious. Ie if vrs gains membership on that basis, they produce to iso standards. Therefore, de facto, you could argue the us service is superior in terms of quality and thus are potentially world leaders in the graphene race. All spec. Aimo. Best ellis

Thoughts in the background to someone I'm talking to (city connected) is that recent MM behaviour should be reported to the FCA. 110 false drop where eft could get any and that false 137.5p close.

While some may groan re the FCA the rules change means there is much more info available. However it's pretty easy to look up and the FCA do look at MM activity, I know a guy that more or less had hotline and was reporting events daily.

Every trade and action leads back to the source.

Thanks Scrutable for your summary of your experience of spread betting and leverage as well as some AIM frauds. It is a reminder to us all that we need our own set of rules to fit our means and the losses we are willing to live with. Much appreciated.

Re: Whereas the UK characterisation service is inclusive of all suppliers.

The 'graphene' scene is VERY new, and there are companies that produce 'graphite', that does not mean there is no use for it, for instance it may work well in paint and any number of other uses.

At the moment there is a 'wild west'. Separating out genuine few layer graphene is of course crucial. However that still leaves a 'wild west' for every other 'graphene' / graphite producer UNLESS there is a means of quantifying what each company is producing, and thus its potential for certain uses (if at all).

IMO UK characterisation service is designed to do just that ;0)

Have a good day - Spike

laginaneil posted this
and is well worth a read again and to note the frustrations that mm's face in trying to wrest shares from long term holders.

It is a significant move by the graphene council considering the size of the US to ask a small company in the UK to lead the way. They would probably call the Forest of Dean the backwoods ;)

So , the question should be is there a growing US interest in little ole VRS?

Activity yesterday

Singer were there on the offer all day, others were a few pence higher in the afternoon.

As I keep saying watch Singer they will be getting that stock from a fund.

On the rising price the holdings funds have been happy to supply MMs stock when the demand is there, when it drifts the fund buyers seem to kick in.

The supply for Singer is not a bottomless pit.

As soon as Singer have none the share price tends to pop up.

Lovett, my earlier post is based upon 'at first sight.' Hence speculation into what might be beneath the surface if you drill into it. I already suggested the uk 'characterisation service' may have catagories within it based upon quality, end use suitability, iso compliance etc. But who knows ? It could be the us is an exclusive verification service, ie at iso standards or equiv. Whereas the uk characterisation service is inclusive of all suppliers. If the us service is at iso standards, they steal a march and lead the world. From being nowhere, this could be a bold move to trump the row. What offering does the EU have for example? Either way, it does vrs no harm. All spec. Aimo. Best ellis

SG - rules have tightened up a lot recently (Langbar must be the worst example of fraud??) but there will always be a scumbag element that will find a needy Nomad! Large investment banks mostly gave up Nomad status because they don’t need the hassle or fines.

Lucky

That 80k looked like PI action to me. Ax was that you, I know you have been jumping in and out recently.

There was an 80k trade about the same time on Haydale too, perhaps the same person. A forced sell perhaps, Hayd have dropped materially in the last week or so.

It does look like unreported selling and as Legal and General started to load it's probably down to them. 500k to 1 mill to go for them imo.

Thanks Scrutable I was hoping to prompt a reply showing your experience of stick market companies and spears net companies. Refreshing to hear that many SB companies now don't cover the AIM.

I know I get stick of kit on various shares but once I spot a lie by the company I become very negative about them. How can anything ever said be trusted once lies are revealed (AGM, FUM, PRG, PHE and various others).

Hence if anyone mentions a new share, look at this etc, I start from the AIM admission document and then go through all news releases. PHE is a shocker for that and it's still the same CEO in charge??? Same BS too.
