24/7/2018 07:32 | Ellis - surely any UK or USA register or the ISO will break down their registers into subsections according to quality? | lovat scout
24/7/2018 07:29 | So much going on we seem to bypass some things, wonder what the reaction would be on any other share if just this was in an RNS? "The Company is pleased to announce that it has been selected to be The Graphene Council's launch client for their 'Verified Graphene Producer' programme, which will independently verify that the Company's Nanene graphene nano platelets meet their demanding standards. The US-headquartered Graphene Council is the leading platform for people and companies that are interested in the research, development and application of graphene world-wide. Founded in September 2013, more than 4,700 researchers, scientists, students and graphene commercial professionals have already joined. The Graphene Council is the USNC Technical Advisory Group to IEC TC 113, Nano-Electrotechnolo The US must play catch up ! | ![]() luckyorange
24/7/2018 07:06 | To my mind, 'at first sight' the US 'verification service' is set against standards - likely the proposed iso defns - whereas the uk 'characterisation service'is not. Further reinforced by the invite of vrs to be the inaugral firm to apply for accreditation of the us verification service. Could they be the only member if successful ? Whereas, the uk register will include all firms who offer samples for characterisation tests. If this is so, you could argue the US will be (are) world leaders as their graphene verification service appears more robust and of the highest quality, ie iso standards. With VRS at it's heart. More power to the elbow of vrs in my view and makes them first port of call in the usa and will likely flush out other foreign rivals. In the absence of iso standards, membership of the us verification service could be the next best thing. A game changer ? lets hope so. Speculative Aimo. Dyor. Best ellis. | ![]() ellissj

23/7/2018 21:49 | As someone mentioned it I had a brief look at XG Sciences Q1 2018 figures - Cost of sales was greater than sales. ie they sold material at less than the manufacturing cost !! That's before all the admin/R&D etc. They burnt cash at $2.2m in Q1 and had $2.3m cash at the end of Q1. Yes they have 1220 customers but 83% of sales was from 1 customer. The other 1219 customers averaged less than £100 each. I assume they're just samples. 83 % of sales were from 1 product c-500. The designation relates to surface area ie 500 m2/gm. They would like you to believe that's around 5 layers. Single layer is 2630 m2/gm. A fairly recent paper says c-750 is 817 m2/gm. The issue is the lateral dimensions. c-750 gave poor performance in tests as it had very short laterals. It would seem that c-500 would have the same problems. New ISO standards for FLG will require both layers and length. I'd be surprised if they can do it. | ![]() serratia

23/7/2018 21:06 | News item tonight re future increased government scrutiny of foreign takeovers of UK companies. Suggestive of possible intervention but aimed at defence companies I think. A bit late for our favourite choccy bars anyway, amongst others. | chumbo1

23/7/2018 20:50 | Apologies if posted already. The current BBC Click programme has a few minutes that covers the recent launch of the graphene Standards Service by NPL and UoM with some commentary on why it's needed. No tech detail and won't teach anyone here seriously anything, but good value for 3 minutes or so. Starts at 15m 30secs in. PS: Anyone who can leave graphene for a while will likely find the rest of the programme on lightweight aircraft interesting too..........did I say leave graphene? | ![]() hew

23/7/2018 20:15 | I like this battery RNS personally ! 'Significant advances' made in battery tech. And of course a similar description used in 2015 to describe 'major advance' in graphene nanoplatelet production. Nanene well positioned by Neill & co in just 3 years. Latterly, brought into the heart of USA's graphene industry, being invited to apply for accreditation to the 'verification' service/register of their national graphene association. - and likely at proposed iso standards (confirmation would be good) given the descriptions used, 'high quality' etc. Hoping for similar advances with battery tech here.
