25/7/2018 07:19 | Just been looking a bit more deeply into NanoXplore. What do we make of this data sheet in the light of their grandiose 10,000 ton/year production plans? From the oxygen content (7%) does that make it GO? If so how are they claiming 6-10 layers? Just asking... | ![]() shavian

25/7/2018 06:41 | I did suspect that it was probably DIT meetings Festario after all Matt is 'seconded' at the moment and will still get support etc; wherever it is needed I would guess. What the 24 "offers" from various parts of China are is what intrigues me if that was part of the discussions at No. 10 then it will be top secret ;) | ![]() luckyorange

24/7/2018 21:48 | Never mind about 'less than 10 weeks', anotherdrink (23108) reminds us that IMPORTANTLY (about 18:30 mins into the podcast) that The U.S. Graphene Council will be testing VRS materials throughout August so that VRS can be the first out there with certified graphene. What share price then? - to be the first globally accredited? (and possibly - near term) the only world-wide producer of real graphene. Incidentally, my own view is that we do need a second supplier of real graphene before too long, as fundamental changes in companies process / production, that relies on only one source is a significant risk. This surely has to be game changing! AND, if the Chinese haven't woken up by then - they most certainly will. Best wishes - Mike | ![]() spike_1
24/7/2018 21:35 | There's now less than 10 weeks till the end of the current half-year (Sept 30). It would be good if some worthwhile order from a named customer were inked in and announced in time to get included. And if the publication of those results takes as long as last year (2 months, 29 Nov) there is time for some post-period orders to be included in the report. | ![]() grabster

24/7/2018 21:23 | A fuller print of that Investors Chronicle article - which I don't think is bad at all, notwithstanding other points they could have mentioned (give them time, give them time - it's a start! And bear in mind that IC is part of the FT group, so the possibility of some other FT journalists picking up on it sometime). And the conclusion isn't the familiar ("Overvalued - SELL") but says "HOLD": VERSARIEN MAKES MATERIAL SALES (Mark Robinson) Versarien (VRS) has seen a tenfold increase in its share price, peak to trough, over the past 12 months, a reflection of the blue-sky potential of its proprietary graphene technologies. However, the initial sell-off on results day, followed by rapid retracement, suggests investors may need to stomach a certain amount of volatility as the engineering materials group expands the range of commercial applications for its products. VRS:LSE Versarien PLC 1mth Today change -1.56% Price (GBP) 126.00 Graphene has numerous properties that could be utilised throughout industry, not least of which enhanced conductivity, so the group is already working towards integrating graphene platelets into batteries and super-capacitors – a potentially vast commercial opportunity. It has signed more than a dozen collaborative agreements since its previous year-end, while undertaking investments to build its graphene manufacturing capability. Sales figures were in advance of expectations, while cash losses were down a third to £0.8m. For now, the financial returns are of secondary importance to how effectively Versarien can commercialise its proprietary offering, but beyond the graphene and plastics segment it also generates revenue from hard-wearing tungsten carbide parts, and other performance materials. IC View Comparatives are essentially meaningless, given that the limited broker coverage now seems woefully out of perspective given the exponential rise in the share price since the third quarter of 2017. Versarien's commercial model remains in its infancy, so the rate of cash-burn is central to investors' considerations. Around £2.9m was successfully raised last November, although an operating cash outflow of £1.9m suggests that unless operating expenses start to fall substantially as a proportion of revenue, the group will need to increase borrowings, or tap the market again at some point in 2019. One to watch – hold. Last IC view: na PS: That I guess is from yesterday's online version? In which case, I guess it will also appear in Friday's written version for additional viewers to see, and to research over the weekend. | ![]() grabster

24/7/2018 20:59 | More science fiction on its way to fruition , a little bit scary maybe? According to Dr. Xiong, artificial neural networks based on the current CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) technology will always have limited functionality in terms of energy efficiency, scalability, and packing density. "It is really important we develop new device concepts for synaptic electronics that are analog in nature, energy-efficient, scalable, and suitable for large-scale integrations," he says. "Our graphene synapse seems to check all the boxes on these requirements so far." "By empowering even a rudimentary level of intelligence in wearable electronics and sensors, we can track our health with smart sensors, provide preventive care and timely diagnostics, monitor plants growth and identify possible pest issues, and regulate and optimize the manufacturing process--significant The development of an artificial brain that functions like the analog human brain is not quite feasible yet, and would require a number of breakthroughs. Researchers need to find the right configurations to optimize these new artificial synapses. They will need to make them compatible with an array of other devices to form neural networks, and they will need to ensure that all of the artificial synapses in a large-scale neural network behave in the same exact manner. Despite the challenges, Dr. Xiong says he's optimistic about the direction they're headed. | ![]() luckyorange |
