FTSE is finally starting to recover after 20 years of underperformance. Today AngloAmerican potential takeover (+11%), Barclays & Unilever both up 4% on results. FTSE shares are great to buy & hold and just wait for recovery. Decent dividends too.
SFOR is a bit of a basket case ! Only purchased some recently (small % of portfolio) for the possibility of longer term performance. Shareprice so erratic it must be a nightmare to trade it. Today good example - sharp sell-off initially, but could end the day in positive territory - I can't be bothered to watch every trade !
But good to see FTSE shares starting to recover and potentially out-perform versus the AI-bubble fuelled US Tech stocks.

Who knows ;-) sure as hell hope the rumours keep coming to maintain a superb rise Thursday, even better if there is a takeover...

Careful I had the same thoughts how has Franklin Resources managed to acquire so many shares to become S4's largest shareholder 11.46% under the markets nose.
I also have said previously that I would be happy with a share price of 100p by year end. Years 2025 & 2026 may turn out be good years I intend to hold S4, unless someone makes a serious takeover offer.
How do they acquire so many shares without increasing the share price?
Hard to understand how they manage to buy so many in a falling market.
I am happy to hold here.
Over 2-3 years SFOR could be valued at many times today's value if things go well.
This will be a tempting takeover target for a bigger player.
SMS will want this company to succeed on its own, this is why he started it.
Still only £283m market cap.
Hoping for about 100p by year end.
Agreed Nige - it will be indeed tricky if and when that happens but realistically I wouldn't expect a massive, massive takeover price in light of where the share price is at the moment but hopefully I am wrong. I am in big time on the long side now so let's hope things go better than expected.
Current price > 100day's ...first time since 9 March 23
Jo keep the faith mate, you will recover your S4 investment and some, either with a takeover bid or within a couple of years when the market recovers. Jam today or jam tomorrow.
Tongosti, I suspect that smart money is moving in on the back of the below comments yesterday. IMO, S4 Capital share price will either be re rated or someone will re rate it for us with a credible takeover bid. Predators are circling. The Times quoted a source saying "everyone's looking at it". Jam today or jam tomorrow.
27/3/2024..."LONDON, March 27 (Reuters) - S4 Capital had received no credible takeover approach, Executive Chairman Martin Sorrell said when asked about a recent Wall Street Journal report saying he had turned down approaches from private equity and U.S. rival Stagwell. "We received nothing credible," Sorrell said in an interview after his ad group published results on Wednesday. "We control our own destiny," he added."
M&A MEGA DEALS now in play and Rising rapidly.
Yesterday SMS stated that the Offer was not enough at 700 million giving share Value about 80p plus..
Expect a 1.2 Billion and above then SMS would sell.
SFOR Value about 125p-150p Target. With a strong Dollar and most of SFOR Market Strength is in the US then Expect an American Takeover soon.
Future Brighter...TARGET 125p-150p plus..

Topped up by 20%, buy the fear it's the only way. He has spoke about the takeover and referred to it as not credible and that we own our own destiny.
Why sell a company that will be worth significantly more in a relatively short period of time.
Panic selling triggering stop losses, same old story.
Should have just accepted that takeover offer.

A re rating of the current share price @43p is needed, or someone will re rate S4 Capital for us with a formal takeover bid. It may well be a low-ball bid, but it will still be a re ratting compared to the current share price.
The reported low-ball bid from Stagwell said to be in the region of $700m valued S4 @ 95.5p was IMO testing the waters. The 3 companies reported to be interested in S4 are The Stagwell Group USA, New Mountain Capital P/E USA. Havas French company. Considering that WPP wanted to purchase Media Monks (£266m) at the time S4 Capital pipped them to the purchase, I wouldn't be surprised if WPP made a move on S4 Capital. Would SMS sell to them? Who knows, money talks, at the right price he would, he also still owns a sizable shareholding in WPP.
Float S4 Capital in the right climate on the Nasdaq and they would trade at multiples of what they currently trade at. IMO.

Martin Sorrell was the ad industryââ¬â¢s hunter, building WPP into the worldââ¬â¢s largest advertising company through acquisitions. Now, heââ¬â¢s the prey, as his S4 Capital firm fields merger offers. hTtps://on.wsj.com/3x6UogI

While I don't think that SMS who holds a golden share in S4 would welcome a takeover bid, that's not say that PE won't try at this current low valuation.

This ripe for a takeover. WPP are on the prowl, imagine that lol.

hades1,
Yet another one I sold too early, still a profit is a profit.
Would have thought Fevertree was ripe for a takeover first.
What was the Hotel Chocolat Group takeover premium?
+170% (i.e. x2.7 last nights close)
Shorts surely got rather hot!
