What thumbs downs ?

In any case a thumbs down on ADVFN is probably a sign that you're onto something.

Who is the appalling thumbs down voter. Surely you would have the courage to say what your issue is with fellow investors?

Why is Gold valuable ?

There are massive interests in either trashing or pumping Bitcoin. To some its just unfamiliar, because they haven't really understood what a token is. To others their interests align with their monetary interest in its rise or fall.

To compare Bitcoin with Tulips is facile in the extreme. The bubble may be similar, the tokens are not.

All I’m miffed about is that if there is no truth in the rumour then I’ve paid a lot more for my divi reinvestment through Halifax than I might have. Typical.

Rumours stimulate the market, who hasn't bought on one?I guess I did again on Friday, it doesn't matter what happens because I'm going to get a good yield regardless to add to the even better yield I have from years of buying the lows.Nice to have a little excitement though.

I wouldn’t pay a lot of attention to Mathew Lynn. Amongst other things, we’ve hardly been in a bull market (particularly AIM which is half its peak) the ftse250 is way down too. He previously predicted the iPhone would be a flop, and said that we should only supply the French with electricity if they clamp down on migrants (whilst that would be dangerous precedent, we actually import more energy than export it).

Yes pay tax on anything over £1000, across everything you hold, but at dividend rate, not capital gains rate. Two different taxes and tax rates

You do if it's over £1000 and as my example shows if you had over 10k in shares that last dividend used it all up.Unless I'm reading it wrong.https://www.gov.uk/tax-on-dividends#:~:text=You%20do%20not%20pay%20tax,from%20shares%20in%20an%20ISA%20.

America after a small drop on Friday finished much higher, even without any bid confirmation I don’t see a huge change in share price tomorrow .

One thing you can almost be sure of is you won’t lose sleep holding Av. and with AB leading we are certainly in very capable hands.

8% divided for the foreseeable future . Yes please.

Clearly skinny hasn't, but then he does post a lot of suspect info on subject matters that he clearly doesn't understand! It's not a fight worth starting. Costly and life changing if they pin you down. These rumours, because of the press coverage are probably on the money.

kasamavic, You don't pay GCT on the dividend, that's treated as income.

Was expecting a bit more meat to the bones of the take over story. One thing it does do though is highlight how undervalued AV. is, even without a takeover. It's one of my larger holdings (10% of PF) and here for the income principally

So if you've more than 10k shares you're subject to CGT based purely on the 11p dividend you've just had?

Bit flippant there, Smurf. If a rumour started by someone who subsequently gains guess what.

It’s also my largest holding in my portfolio and one I’m more than comfortable with holding. Great dividend and very undervalued right now. Current share price is of no concern to me (unless a takeover materialises)as dividend income alone satisfies my investment criteria. Minus any takeover, share appreciation will be an added bonus in the years to come.

Aviva is in much better shape than years ago, much leaner and stronger since Amanda Blanc took the helm. All credit to her for what shes achieved to date. I have held Aviva for many years and my holding has increased significantly of late as Aviva has become a highly investable company imo.

Takeover or not, one to hold for the foreseeable future.
