kasamavic I know, but not everyone reads every link posted and unlike the previous 2 posts that just posted the link. I referenced a specific comment about a city source having spoken to the Guardian.

I thought that may be relevant given the debate about whether this might just be the usual takeover rumours which surface every so often, or whether there might be more to this latest one.

Hopefully it might still be useful for some others who haven't read what was in the links previously posted.

What a lovely thing to say. I hope it does happen and you do get you Porsche.

Nobody seems to have noticed the near 10p drop in the last hour of trading. That was the clue, I’m afraid.
No bid, but hopefully new interest in the share.

This comment from the above article appears to be interesting. Shame we don't know who the source is.

"A City source told the Guardian there had been some discussions with suitors.

There was no statement from Aviva or any of the other companies."

AV is a big hitter, LGEN or MNG come next. Builders won't be in the doldrums firecer though!

Challenge of a buyout is where then to place the proceeds... and not wanting it then all to be squandered.

A Porsche will surely depreciate as with most other cars. Enjoy it though.

Aviva issued a very quick denial last time a takeover rumour started. Hopefully more rumours in the Sunday papers. If no denial 7am on Monday then the share price should rocket.

Who really started the rumour - as usual follow the money. Who has the cash because leveraged is currently a no no.

If there is no bid next week I see down side as 10p or max 20p but if there is a bid the upside is at least £2.

It’s a good bet.

Imagine a bored trader or two setting off a rumour like this, then more sales than buys. Positions that were open could be closed and money moved on.I'm sceptical. Here's the question, Aviva made no comment. Is this their usual response to previous rumours, because surely to calm the market they'd have said that they know nothing of any takeover.Interesting, but my gut feeling, with my chicken bones, is we will lose most of yesterday's rise, no bid activity, and a few extra investors that will have noted the fantastic yield.

After The Times newspaper cited talk of a potential takeover of Aviva, citing Allianz, Tryg, and Intact Group as potential buyers, shares in the insurer rose almost 9%.Analysts at J.P. Morgan have responded to the claims, stating that it views Aviva as highly undervalued given its strong capital return potential. The report also says that Aviva is inexpensive and highlights the work of CEO Amanda Blanc in transforming the insurer into an investable company."It is in some ways not surprising to hear stories of this nature given how inexpensive Aviva is, in our opinion. Aviva offers a ~12% 2024E total capital return yield, including our forecast of a £300mn recurring annual share buyback," say analysts.

Certainly the turnover these last few days suggests that someone wants to be onboard, or at least not short, but as others have pointed out, the chairman would not have been permitted to buy shares on 25th Sept if the company was in talks with anyone.

So in my opinion, either, any serious interest has only just emerged; this is a false story hanging over from silly season; or someone has leaked a rumour to see if anyone is actually interested enough to declare their hand.

Either way, it is good that Av. is getting a re-rating back towards a better /proper valuation, and it will also encourage the BOD to continue their turnaround /realisation of assets and returns to shareholders.

If a bidder does emerge, I too would be sorry to lose the Av. dividend, but nothing that I say or do is going to change that and posters on here spouting that they won't sell for less than x pence is a not going to make a jot of difference to what a bidder might bid or the institutional shareholders accepting.

I wonder if one serious bidder will flush out other interested parties. What’s it called ‘fear of missing out’

I think we might see a bid coming from left field. By that,I mean Canada.
