Otherwise, anyone could pile in ahead of record date.Yep and then the price reacts accordingly to that.

How is this going to work... a special dividend, payable next year, for 2019 ?
Can they make it only for holders at XD back then?
Otherwise, anyone could pile in ahead of record date.
I still think it will be used for debt reduction, and to cushion against Covid uncertainty, blah blah.

Also you can make more than that buying nearly any recovery stock most have already gone up 40-50% last few weeks.

I know many think 30p+ is a dream on the dividends but one could argue with a 12 billion surplus plus and the 1.6 billion for the Singapore unit and the rumoured 2 to 3 billion-plus for the french unit in the pipeline. While making 900 million after-tax in 6 months and at a guess will be 1.8 billion for the year. The 1.2 billion dividend does not seem a lot to pay as is covered by profits on its own.

My big concern is that even if we get positive news regarding the dividend etc on the 26th, the government are going to release information regarding a brexit deal that is going to counteract the good news. But i'm very naive and don't know much !

It isn't guaranteed we get told about the divs etc next week since the 4th qtr runs until 31 Dec so given the further lockdown any announcement might be delayed - who knows.

iii saying "analysts are now speculating that the RSA break-up raises the possibility that Aviva (LSE:AV.) and Hiscox (LSE:HSX) could be the next insurers to see approaches for parts or all of their businesses."

All pure conjecture though and to be taken with a large pinch of salt.

Looking at our share price don't think anybody expects a bid or we would be 4.00 now

Wba, I had heard rumours with one director mysteriously leaving early. In touch with a few but sadly we have lost a number of the senior team GM being the latest. Agree with you re quality of company. If Aviva had their culture the share price would not be where it is now.
