05/3/2020 11:18 | Dividend yield getting close to 9%. Normally that signals something VERY wrong with the company's balance sheet or future prospects, but I don't see any immediate risks to the divvy here. It is well-covered and cash generation continues to be strong. It's a definite income play at this stage. | ![]() danielbird193
05/3/2020 11:13 | You would hope at the very least this set of figures today would put a floor under these wouldn't you. | ![]() p0pper

05/3/2020 10:54 | The market looks forward and that's why the shares appear cheap on the latest EPS and dividend. It could be a buy opportunity, it might not be. We'll see in a few years if this really was cheap. As Investors those who claim they are cheap should fill their boots, top up, average down etc and those who don't see it and see the future looking downhill will be selling or even going short? I think they are cheap myself but I thought that for BT and Centrica and my shares have since halved over the last few years. Welcome to shares 'investing' where the real surefire winners are the the ones paid salaries, bonuses, share options, pensions etc. I've found that owning shares is generally more of a liability. Corona virus and it's eventual outcome is what is spooking the future for economies. | ![]() nick rubens
05/3/2020 10:36 | EPS 60.5..PE 5.75. The Market really expecting it on a silver platter for 350. | ![]() stewart64
05/3/2020 10:30 | Lako42 - agree that the share price could still be here in 5 years. Nice to think that you might pick up £1.64 per share in divis over that period though (assuming they continue to compound at 3% per annum). | ![]() danielbird193

05/3/2020 10:25 | Nothing to do with figures, which were good, the Dow futures looking ugly. | ![]() montyhedge
05/3/2020 10:17 | I'm back in here at these levels, although I don't actually expect the share price to do what it should as it never ever seems to on Aviva. Could well be the same price in 5 years based on it's lethargic performance over the previous 5. | ![]() lako42
05/3/2020 10:10 | 2020 has begun with the outbreak of a new strain of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in China, with confirmed cases in more than 50 countries, including all of those in which Aviva has material businesses. There is a risk of a significant global pandemic and economic disruption. We have reviewed the exposure of our balance sheet and are taking actions to further reduce our sensitivity to economic shocks. Notwithstanding our robust capital and liquidity position and the operational and financial actions that we are taking, a deterioration in the situation would have adverse implications for our businesses arising from the potential impacts on financial markets, our insurance exposures and our operations. As the situation is rapidly evolving it is not practicable to quantify the potential financial impact of the outbreak on the Group. | zangdook

05/3/2020 09:20 | I tried very hard to listen to our CEO's webcast . He could make a child that's just had 5 chocolate bars fall asleep. Having said that results were as expected and there shouldn't be much downside in this market compared to others | ![]() whatsup32
05/3/2020 09:11 | EssentialInvestor, you're right that there's a real mountain of blurb. I should caveat my comments by saying that I picked what I thought were highlights based on reading the announcement on the train to work. Others' views may vary hence it would be great to hear some different perspectives! General consensus seems to be that these are decent results though, backed up by the price rise in a falling market. | ![]() danielbird193

05/3/2020 08:50 | Old stock market saying, pay more to know more, now figures out and very good, those boys will come in, I see these back over 400p+ | ![]() montyhedge
05/3/2020 08:49 | Never the most exciting share in the world, but another solid set of results. Amazing dividend yield and backed up with excellent rise in profits. This is a great income share and I can't understand why its been trading so much lower than LGEN, and generally disliked by the city, but is always being tipped in the papers etc. Hold these shares and been reinvesting dividends. Surely this must now been the turning point for this share and we will see 4.50-5 again soon. | ![]() oggyrocks
05/3/2020 08:46 | Dr. Bio, I have been digging a bit deeper looking at death rates. I think the suggestion of 1% by the government is incredibly optimistic. WHO says 3.4%. But they said 4% during the SARS outbreak and it ended up at 9.6%. I am not expecting that here, but 5% or so would not surprise me... I seriously hope the government is not planning to just let the virus affect 80% of the population - a toll of 3 million would not be pretty. | ![]() edmundshaw
05/3/2020 08:43 | Very good figures, back over 400p, no problem. | ![]() montyhedge
05/3/2020 08:39 | Daniel, thanks for that. There is s mountain not blurb to read. | ![]() essentialinvestor |
