05/3/2020 08:34 | Solid set of results from Aviva today. I like the way costs are being properly allocated to business units to show their true performance. "Other group operations" swallowed up £212 million of operating profit in 2018, down to £26 million in 2019. This kind of action forces business unit heads to take responsibility for their own costs which can only be positive. Was surprised not to see swifter action on reducing leverage given all the headlines. Only £0.2 billion reduction in net debt compared to £1.5 billion target by 2022. There's a chart in the results presentation which shows the maturity profile of debt which suggests there is ample opportunity to do more on this in 2020 and beyond. 3% increase in the divvy is always welcome and Aviva now rates a solid "hold" from me. I would consider topping up but I'm keeping some dry powder in case of a further hit from the old Corona. Would be interested to hear others' thoughts on today's results. | ![]() wrestlingmad
05/3/2020 08:32 | Daniel, there is a comment upon debt reduction along the lines of following the maturity profile of their subordinated debt which kicks in more so from 2020. Agree with you on the results obviously the attitude is under promise and over deliver - what's not to like? | ![]() ianood

05/3/2020 08:18 | Cracking results. Under normal circumstances I'd expect this at mid 4s but in the absence of normal market conditions, a return to above 4 in short order should be achievable. spud | spud
