Question - if it's a Mello beano for Funds and Trusts - why is Avation presenting? They are not a Trust nor a Fund . They're an aircraft leasing company.

"The Company has reached agreement in principle with a customer to repay $30.0 million of rent and maintenance reserve arrears included in trade and other receivables. The amount will be converted to a loan subject to interest at 5.5%, repayable in 24 equal monthly instalments of principal and interest starting from January 2023."

As CC says, the reason the price been walked down is because of the Austria news. Look at all the airline stocks, not even airlines, the FTSE!

Not sure why there is a need for a placing unless there are covenants to worry about.
Still think "retiring" some of the bonds is the best short term finance option.
There are distressed jets for sale; but they are cheap for a reason.
Go back to being a niche ATR supplier until the horizon clears.

Being walked down as Austria placed in full Covid lockdown. Concerns Germany may follow.

Not hard to think there might be a placing coming here. Seems to being walked down. Given generally positive news flow must be a likely reason

So why did Avation purchase 4033 II.
What does 4033 II own?
It is the subtle (but legally significant) difference in accounting for partially owned subsidiaries

russman

Avation owns 99.68% of Capital Lease Aviation Ltd
CLA owned 100% of Capital MSN 4033 II Ltd.
Now Avation (after a transfer of this indirect sub) directly owns 100% of MSN 4033.

Explanation of "transfer of subsidiary" transaction is unsatisfactory.

(1) we know the books as of year end June, all satisfactory
(2) they'll likely recovery a good chunk or all of the un-paid leases - VietJet is not on the brink of bankruptcy and, like all airlines, will be entering a relatively prosperous period as air travel demand picks back up

Doesn't change the picture here for me - it's one of a solid recovery play that is sitting substantially undervalued right now. I can't find many other stocks with R/R as good as here.

Vietjet have not paid their leases for over a year.
Probably (was) AVAP's biggest customer.
