Designer Vision makes maiden profit in H1; outlook strong

LONDON (AFX) - Designer Vision Group PLC, the AIM listed supplier of in-car
and portable entertainment systems, reported a maiden profit today for the first
half of 2006 and said the outlook for the group is strong.
Maiden pretax profit for the six months to end-June was 189,529 stg, up from
a loss of 193,230 stg a year earlier, on turnover up 90 pct to 5.9 mln stg from
3.1 mln.
Chairman Angelo Panayiotou said the company has passed a milestone in
posting its maiden profit and has been put on a firm footing through securing a
financing facility of 1 mln stg. In addition, the company now has a strong
management team, he said.
Panayioutou said the group's entry into the consumer electronics market has
added considerable turnover and profitability. Designer Vision branded products
are now sold globally and the retail business is fully integrated within
operations.
He also said the order book for the company is very strong and with the
onset of the Christmas period the group expects an increase in existing business
as well as further significant contract wins.
