--The German government is exploring ways it can facilitate a merger between Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank in a bid to help fix Deutsche Bank, Bloomberg reports, citing people familiar with the matter.

--German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz and Deutsche Bank CEO Christian Sewing have participated in talks on making tweaks to German tax law to make a merger less costly, according to Bloomberg.

--Other options also under consideration to help Deutsche Bank include raising new investments from existing or new shareholders, Bloomberg says.
