ST. LOUIS, Aug. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Achor Technologies
announced it has engaged Call Center Technology Group, Inc. to
begin development of Giftwish™ Box, a gifting app that will provide
a solution to a multi-billion dollar problem: giving and receiving
the wrong gifts. Utilizing Achor's patent-pending technology,
Giftwish™ Box will enable users to enjoy the discovery, intimacy
and satisfaction of gifting.
According to Joel Waldfogel,
professor at the University of
Minnesota, over $30 billion
worth of economic value is lost worldwide annually when people buy
each other gifts they don't really want. Gift cards have become a
popular alternative, but aren't always the right choice: sales of
gift cards exceed $100 billion
annually, yet the value of unused gift cards is surprisingly high.
CEB Tower Group, an advisory group that tracks gift card trends,
estimates $750 million worth of gift
cards went unredeemed in 2014.
"Every person has their own story about getting or giving the
wrong gift," said Kirk Arbogast,
Achor CEO and founder of Giftwish™ Box. His own near-miss of giving
his eldest daughter the wrong gift (he thought she still liked the
color pink – she told him that was 3 years ago) was the
inspiration. "At that moment I realized there had to be a way to
use technology to get gifting right."
Call Center Technology Group has a successful track record in
providing IT solutions in a variety of industries. The
international firm has developed cross-platform mobile apps and
enterprise solutions for clients such as American Express, IBM,
Ogilvy & Mather, Dell, and WaMu. Company founder Mark Watson is also co-creator of the Binary
Tree Migration Suite, a migration software solution utilized by
thousands of customers worldwide. "We are excited to be part of
this project," said Mr. Watson. "It's not just a new gifting app –
it's a new solution to a problem we've all had at least once in our
lives."
