True, just useful to have confirmation - plus the actual amount. Much of market sentiment is 'believe it when I see it'

They have already stated that the dividend will be restored at half underlying earnings.

Given the modest signs of share price recovery, it would seem that there is some market expectation that the dividend might at least be partially restored.

We'll know in just over 3 weeks time when they release the interim results on 7th Sept.

Good half-year update from LSE which I think helped TCAP today.

Nice finish. I’m looking forward to the full update and next dividend confirmation.

I’ll take whatever the divi is and redirect the income to take a few more shares, assuming the share price stays subdued.

#383 Many would be happy to see a dividend restored to 13p, almost double the current 7.6p.

Would make forward yield 6.7%.

A very low-key update that tells it like it is, with no bs. Even the incorporation of Liquidnet is being underplayed for the time being, so I just hope it’s quietly going well and they have something more exciting to say about it in September.

I tend to agree with CC that this is more of a long term value play based on the success of liquidnet and other organic new business adding to the stable long term business lines.

Stocko is predicting normalised eps at 26p so a dividend of 13p.

I find it difficult to work it out myself as there is the increase in shares which muddies the waters.

RCT, what do you calculate the total fy yield on that basis? Stocko has 6.93.

dividends will remain subdued is my gut feel on this I've had plenty of divi stocks to get a feel for the signs until they get a more positive guidance and outlook. You are buying deep value for the long term is the reality here. There's no point kidding yourself because I've seen actual agreed dividends pulled literally days before they were to be paid out.

Bruce - they stated relatively recently that they would pay half of underlying earnings as a dividend each year

Just retesting the bottom here. Value stock. Main question would be, is the dividend safe.

Inter-dealer broker TP ICAP reversed 4.0% to 192.06p after its first-half revenue fell 5% as markets became quieter while economies emerged from the pandemic.TP ICAP's revenue for the six months through June fell to £936 million, down from £990 million, though the fall was a more modest 1% on a constant currency basis.Story provided by StockMarketWire.com

Those results are nothing special so I'm not surprised by the market reaction.

Modest bit of upwards movement for a nice change.

Trading update due next Tuesday.

It dropped to around the current level soon after the dividend cut was announced back at end of September.

I think you'll see a recovery, maybe not immediate, if they can restore the dividend level.

I also think it's possible to over-analyse price movements which happen for all kinds of reasons, particularly when driven by institutional investor priorities which can change for reasons unrelated to the individual company.

Still doesn’t explain why investors were willing to pay over 250p when the one-off dividend reduction, along with clear direction of they’re dividend formula going forward, was already published. TCAP is down for other reasons, in my view - maybe the potential legal action, which would obviously concern some potential investors. Even so, that was also known about before the decent rise.
