AM arrives safely in the port of Rotterdam, where works will be completed as scheduled ,then off to WoS and hook up weather permitting with FOIL following.I believe that when oil is flowing commercially the share price will be well over 200p / 400%.

Indeed but my observation is not really about Hurricane but rather how shareholder behaviour has changed.

Yes, market attitudes to O&Gs have changed dramatically (as of course has the PoO, and future views on oil).

We won't see the massive gains again on successful news from small E&Ps that we did a few years ago. But while I doubt we'll see HUR go from 50p to 200p, or even 100p, overnight, there are still very worthwhile gains on the cards, and those figures are likely to be reached, just not as rapidly.

In todays market I get the impression that big traders/AI bots etc couldnt care less if they decimate a companies share price over time, impacting on fund raising and all the rest, just as long as they make their 1/2 % profit on the turn. Maybe a change of stategy is needed by regular investors.

How the world has changed. Just a few years ago if an oil company was moving from development to first oil production its stock would get a very healthy share price rise.

Today however it seems that indifference “reins supreme” with Hurricane likely to be producing oil by March.

Yes I know the POO has moved downwards recently but on a relative basis Hurricane “should be out performing” and it’s not.

So maybe we are due some nice deferred serious gains or maybe things are fundamentally very different now?

My hope is the former but I think there will also be a good “Dash” of the later when this all pans out.

Some great comments there... thanks for all your contributions... And some tips worth following up.
I particularly liked bocase's ..693... "Travel first class or your kids will!"

I'm 58, been retired for 10 years in the Far East, "cash" rich (well relatively), asset poor (apart from investments, which I treat as cash), and no pensions (other than State in 8 years, although who knows what that'll be worth by then). I've been drawing down my investments since I'm still aiming for growth over income.

I've never travelled first class (unless I got a free upgrade). It would be nice to know if I could blow the lot over the next couple of years, or whether I need to carefully stretch it out over 35 or more... And health costs are likely to rise significantly in future, as I'm out side the NHS, and too many pre-conditions to make Insurance worthwhile.

In the meantime it's nice to keep my grey matter exercised, effectively doing a similar "job" to what I did when working. (I used to manage the operation of production plants & refineries, and then offshore developments, incl. their design), but now it's with my own skin in the game.

I managed to more than double a nice figure on PMO over the past couple of years, and have been steadily moving from there into HUR, starting just before the price crashed post EPS financing but more added later, so I'm now around breakeven here. PMO is still my largest holding (even at 50% of what it was 2 months ago). ENQ is another of my significant stakes, which again has suffered recently (post RI). I've added a couple of Falkland Oilers over the past year as well.. RKH & BOR, and also some OPHR, but all very small stakes, and all currently underwater.

Modest holdings of BP, Shell, (& a legacy holding of Chevron, from when I worked with them) which are at this point my best performers, but that's mostly due to the decent dividends they pay, and the last 2 months downturn that's hit the others harder..

Once the EPS has been successful for 6-12 month it still doesn't prove it won't "fall over" soon thereafter.. If production from this FB was totally "nailed on" then we'd be much higher already, so there will always still be some remaining risk...and with it opportunities to get in later and still make good profits. Even after FID for a FFD (or 2) there will still be uncertainty... Remember you only get cash once you actually produce and sell the oil (or sell the whole shebang, or part of it)... Mind you cash is likely to get devalued in the near future.. perhaps not as much as Zimbabwe or Venezuela, but it'll be better to hold solid assets. Once we're over 100p I'll be trimming my holding a little (if only for ongoing living costs), and even at 300p there'll be scope for larger rises... if we're still around by then.

At least Dr. R is younger than me, and I'm hoping will still want to hold tight, rather than going off on another adventure (like gibso..??)
