While we're at it let's resuscitate British Leyland, British Steel and pour Billions of tax payers hard earned cash into running it inefficiently and unprofitable

So why are you and others anti Johnny Foreigners buying British?

Yeah I agree too.

Due to the mess DLG made I am more than happy to see that get taken out but AV. is a different story altogether and one I want to continue holding for many years to come.

Good luck all 👍🏻

I’m all in favour of free markets but I do worry when so many good British cos get bought by overseas cos.

In particular cos. such as JLR bought by Tata because if hard times come, the parent organisation will often protect jobs at home and sacrifice the foreign jobs.

That’s not xenophobia.

You may say they were saved by the foreign buyer but often they gain IP, branding and dump the staff and U.K. sites so no jobs and no sales/profits here in the long run.

I agree AV should not be sold but should pursue M&A within the business structure Amanda has now defined. Growth in revenues and dividend the best driving force for the SP

I have no wish to see Aviva sold off to a foreign buyer. I would much rather see Aviva doing the buying. We appear to have capital to burn if we are doing buybacks. Invest it in our markets and grow profits.

Yes Aviva is slimmed down nicely enough for a sale but now they have done that they will be getting told that if the share price does not rise then they will be taken over. This may explain why they are so bullish presently talking up prospects, but for us the share price rises either way. I actually thought Aviva would be sold by the end of last year, but am holding my breath still, and fun to watch the future unfold from here else the continuing business success to £2B operating profit in due course.

Talk of defences against foreign takeovers says UK companies are sitting ducks. It would be good if,for a change, some of our companies hunted down some foreign assets.

So the increase to £3.6b would mean a bid north of 270 then?

Sorry posted the above before reading the article.

Good luck all 👍🏻

On reflection, I believe these are the best results by Aviva in the last 7 yrs I have been investing here. I expect the share price to move north beyond 5£ and the solid future guidance should deliver annual divi increase of circa 5% ( so 34,9p) in 2024. Will be adding more before X-divi date GLA

Guys, can we all refrain from name calling please and keep this thread clean and informative and relatively on track. The last comment from Pete does nothing to promote the subject matter of this thread.spud
