1rob what would you say the adjusted price is today vs pre all the disposals? Presumably adjust for the special of 3.75? I think 100 shares became 76 so 4.6 today share price is worth 6.1 in old share price money?

UK insurance companies are certainly an interesting place to be right now what with Ageas and Generali (not necessarily UK but news today suggesting there in the mood for a takeover? But who?) seemingly interested in takeovers.. UK is cheap so why not especially before any elections take place and then who knows what direction this country travels.

Fact is the share price isn’t reflecting the £500m of extra profit by 2026. There’s your growth, completely ignored by the markets.

....'Chief executive Amanda Blanc dismissed market speculation about a takeover for the company as “largely market chatter”.'
'LARGELY' !!!. So not completely market chatter
I am totally convinced that an offer of 700p+ would be supported by the Board

I don't get it. Why would anyone buy AV as a growth stock ? If you want it for taking consistent dividends, then you'd never sell on a rise anyway and you wouldn't buy on falls, unless you just want that as insurance against iffy years, which is at least a strategy.

There are (and have been) very few stocks that can pay 5+% dividends reliably and also have cash left over for growing earnings in some way. You takes your choice etc.

The main risk is some sort of structural or company specific problem, as with INTU (shopping centres dying) or CLLN (no margin) or (I hope) temporarily with some REITs.

Rather than worrying about the share price rising, I'm just on the lookout for those problems that might reduce dividends and make a business unattractive from that point of view and from a growth point of view - which pretty much kills them off for years if not completely.

I am beginning to think AV. is uninvestible.
Theres no way the share price is performing over the long term.
The dividend is simply, getting your money back when it goes XD.

Over 20million shares traded average above 465p . Could be 30million by end of day ,
Should give better foundation for Av going forward.

Shocking price movement today after all the good news and top brass buying we get a share price that tumbles!
We don't half live with a corrupt financial landscape!!!

Pump and squirt are words l think you boys were thinking.

Look at Rolls Royce, up 9.5p on no news and this can't even maintain a double digit rise on positive news. It's got flees.

Another alternative is wait for JP Morgan to savage AV in the way they did to Phoenix.
I wouldn't put it past them but lets hope not :)

Surely the share price movement today has to be judged in context of at least the last month.
Since first week of February it went virtually vertical for a 10% gain a few minutes ago in approx 21 trading days. It peaked at 9am at 384p briefly today at a 17% gain.
Little wonder that there is profit taking. Plus technical analysis will start kicking in showing overbought on magical moving averages etc which the Bots will notice.
As others have pointed out does it matter that much if you are invested for the long term.
If you feel confident in the long view you can follow the CEO right now and buy cheaper than the Blanc family did this morning.

I agree,

It would have been great to see it push on from 480+ but what difference would that make to the press coverage to come from decent results?

I think we will be north of 490 before ex divi which I am more than happy with. Once the divi is locked in we then start building again for a break and hold into the 500's.

Good luck all 👍🏻

Who really cares about the share price?
People who bought at 470, thinking it was still undervalued. Thats who.

Nice to see the share price at £4.80 earlier today, but at the end of the day, for long term share holders, who really cares as long as the dividend is decent and a nice income, hopeufully the buybacks will start to pay off in the long term for those willing to be patient.

Too many folks looking for a quick buck. What ever happened to buying a solid share hold for many years and pick up the dividends along the way. Society in general is live for the day..

What with M&A (non published price-sensitive information) and pre-results she has probably been in a closed-period for months.
