There won’t be a takeover of chesterfield as the management and friends all just invested at twice the current price, I think they could buy or farm into one or more of the blocks, it will be chump change now for aau and the history of copper in cyprus seems very interesting ... If it is not chesterfield but another asset then I am sure they will have a good deal given how much chesterfield have picked up at little or no cost in prolific historical copper areas...
What about takeover to get on main market? Makes sense to me. Or are we getting ahead of ourselves ??
Jc, i'm not sure of other gold miners with a higher potential for increase in resources/reserves than AAZ, however there is also the potential for hostile takeover by the goverment/ruling family of a failed mine. So many questions hanging in the air over that one.
Biggles will sell when the takeover offer comes in at £1 per share! (Like me)
JD - I agree the company could pay a dividend to ordinary shareholders from next year and it would not hurt the company. In fact it would be of great benefit to the company as it would attract a more solid shareholder base which would be able to resist a takeover. Let's face it folks, this company is about to move into a higher profit margin league and needs to be cautious about such issues.
If there is an equity call to fund Tavsan then we may find we suddenly have some institutional investors aboard, my personal view is that they would rather wait for a discounted entry, rather than try to buy a large holding on the open market, and risk takeover fever breaking out!
Yes at such low volume there is no justification for the fall other than MM manipulation. Justifies topping up here on takeover opportunities alone never mind the rest of the stuff.
I honestly don't think a takeover is likely based on current operations. 50% of a small producing asset is not going to attract many predators. Beef up production to 50k oz and it will be somewhat more attractive but not for a major. Start hitting what we are all hoping at Salinbas and it is a different discussion.
Doubt it re the hostile takeover dic; they'd need too many shares and if 'they' did keep buying, the sp will likely be near 10p (£100m for all inc NE Turkey isnt expensive in my opinion) in any event, so doubt too many would be upset to get out around that price.
CSSF - it seems to me the current market with its almost 100% retrogressive approach will only pay attention when the project gets a takeover bid or is mined, whichever comes first.
I very much doubt that Ariana is currently a takeover target. Their producing asset is pretty small as far as these things go and is a 50% JV. No major will be interested in this and I doubt whether a smaller company looking to buy ounces will consider it either. If Salinbas hits some good results then that is a different matter as the obvious parallels will be drawn with Hot Maden. 2p is an obvious resistance level so it was unsurprising to see this stall when the volume was low. It's normal trading behaviour and at some point it will break provided news remains positive (particularly the gold price which could still go either way in my opinion but I am expecting to set up a big move at some point this year, although this may well be after another dip).
Takeover on the cheap is also my concern. The sp appears to me to be regularly attacked in a 'robot' way when ever it tries to breach/break 2p. I guess us pi's need to stick together and vote with management if their is any sign of a hostile takeover.
