Aliyev said a ceasefire could only be possible if Azerbaijan received international guarantees and a “concrete timeline” from Armenia on withdrawing its troops. “We don’t have eyes on any other country’s lands, but what is ours should be ours,” he said.

The crux is Baku wants Nogorno sorted out and back into Azeri hands, over to Armenia for a reaction I guess. Will they pull out, great for aaz with its assets in Nagorno.

Decent volume today, no doubt a few stopped out of their leveraged positions, still looks like the mms taking full advantage of the cheap stock for dividends

MM's love this kind of action … no demand for the shares, really ???
Why then 9p spread?
Weakly held stock is still being consistently picked up

From above:

“Turkey must definitely be in any upcoming peace process. A peace process will surely be started. Clashes cannot go on forever, so the sooner the better.” Aliyev said on TRT Haber.

So many Henry Kissingers on this thread all experts on near Eastern history and politics because they own a few shares in AAZ, and in the meantime gold price up nicely. They are still mining are they not!

dp, it is indeed a very traditional time to start a war, ie wait until the harvest is in, you have the store of food, and plenty of idle manpower.

Added at 108p earlier. It's a situation where you shake down the sofa for any spare cash. Probably haven't timed it perfectly, and will look for a bit more cash if we drop below £1.

In the medium-long term AAZ will be unaffected by the conflict.

In the short term the question is who does the Azeri dictatorship listen to? Its own population demanding war, or the international community asking for peace? Obviously hoping pressure from Russia, US, Iran and Europe makes war untenable.

TXP and GAN looking good this aft. Picked up quite a few AAZ this morning between 105 and 110. Situation will be resolved and price will go back to 130 sharpish.

Some other thoughts. Covid picking up in Iran, winter approaching in the region. The last thing anyone wants is lots of refugees right now. Iran has a huge border with both Armenia and Azerbaijan. This will die down quickly, just need a face saving compromise that works for both sides. Russia and Turkey will not want to get drawn into a proxy war that will destabilise Iran.

You buy when there's blood on the streets. That's the rule, isn't it. Wait until things improve and you pay a lot more.

Yes, but you do not know when. Likelihood is a mediated resolution as previously but it's still a hot potato at the moment. It certainly isn't going to be friendship bands this week, so gives you some extra time to listen to what's going on the ground, before you decide to pile in.

Just topped up with another 4000 shares. This will recover quickly and the conflict will end as nobody would benefit at the end of the day. They will sort out their differences with negotiations. With economic uncertainty due to Corona virus and adding likely market turbulence during the US elections, no sector is better for safety than gold.

Thanks for your second ever contribution on AAZ, Witheco. I learnt a LOT from you there, including....

1) Markets hate uncertainty. (Wowsers!)
2) The situation (a war) is "highly unstable" (incredible insight!)
3) Your only other posts talks of us going to 85p
4) You dont think this "small recovery" will hold (no reason given)

Do keep feeding us these gems.

The only international reporters on the ground are within N-K so you will not find any "objective" first-hand sources reporting on what's happening in Azerbaijan.

Markets hate uncertainty - doubt this small recovery will hold. The situation is still highly unstable, got no idea which way the US will take. Au prices not ideally placed to take an advantage of this situation.

https://report.az/en/nagorno-karabakh-conflict/milli-majlis-to-discuss-restoration-of-sugovushan-s-historical-name/It's hard to find any source of news on the conflict. Here's one which is very one sided. Anyone else find a more objective news source please post it on here.

mad foetus, we are all riding a horse that might or might not be shot dead at any moment, or on the other hand the gunman might get arrested at any moment and the danger vanish. The price will simply move dependent on whether punters feel lucky or not, or perhaps have boots on the ground who know what's really happening? It's a war, random things happen.
