Amazing how many people who never share positives are suddenly very visible when there are negatives.

Your assumption that it was Armenia who started this is questionable in itself.

Am not trying to make any 'points'. Reading about it, from various sources, helps understand how each side perceives the situation & the events leading up to this flare-up.Do you just get your domestic news from the BBC or ITV?Neither the UN or the OSCE has achieved anything on this subject for years. Arguably, all the time the 'ceasefire' has persisted, they have simply ignored it.Most of these sort of conflicts start as a result of a 'leader' wanting to deflect the attention of the people from some sort of domestic crisis & focus their attention on some outside 'malign' nation who can be blamed for all the domestic woes.In the case of Armenia, it might actually be the poor government response to Covid that was the final straw & which persuaded the government to prod the Azeris, knowing full well that it would quickly unite the Armenian people and direct their anger at Azerbaijan. On this occasion, it might now very significantly backfire on the Armenian government, in terms of how the conflict ends but, in the meantime it is 100% successful in muddying the waters & deflecting Armenians from more detailed questioning as to the efficacy of their government.

Armenia is a democracy, Azerbaijan isn't.

Armenia is letting in journalists to cover the war and they are begging for international observers to come in, Azerbaijan is doing a total blackout even for their own citizens.

Azerbaijan has already bombed the Armenia Republic proper.

They are also using long range missiles and illegal weapons to bomb civilian infrastructures - a war crime.

President Macron has been quite clear in his condemnation of Azerbaijan for using Syrian mercenaries flown in by Turkey.

Azerbaijan has severely wounded international journalists who were travelling in a bus clearly marked "Press".

I can't see how any of this is justified.

The only way out is a negotiated peace which safeguards the people who have been living in N-K. If you see some of the propaganda coming from Azerbaijan it is verging on the genocidal so you can see why they want to have clear reassurances.

So long as it stays within Nogorno Karabakh I dont see the outside world saying much other than lip service. I think Azerbaijan had hope when Pashinyan became prime minister of Armenia in 2018, this seems to have come to nothing with the Azeris now thinking we've had enough going nowhere with little border spats. I think the Azeris now mean business, why stop now, what will be achieved other than years of stalemate. I don't think Baku will want to stop until Nagorno is back under Azeri control, how can the outside world really say much when Nagorno is recognised as part of Azerbaijan.

I have updated the spreadsheet and will post later tonight in case their are any late entries.

Only only person (Indyanna) has AVCT so far for next week. They should get a boost on Monday with the thisismoney article.

It should be a big week next week for markets if the US aid package is announced which should benefit all stocks/gold and this could all easily be reversed if President Trump takes a turn for the worst.

Avacta Group
The talk in the City is that the boss of Avacta Group is involved with Operation Moonshot – the Government's programme to introduce same-day mass testing for Covid-19.

City sources said widespread rumours suggest that Alastair Smith, chief executive of testing firm Avacta, is heavily involved in the £100 billion scheme to deliver 10 million tests a day by next year.

Shares in Avacta have been on a tear since the beginning of the year after it emerged that it is busy developing a ten-minute home saliva test for coronavirus.

And it has seen several high profile investors take stakes in the business. These include Umar Kamani, the son of Mahmud Kamani, the founder of online fashion giant Boohoo.

The veteran retailer also struck a distribution deal with Avacta to sell the tests online once they are approved by regulators.

On Friday, Avacta Group's shares rose 6p to £1.64.

Watching interviews on Al-Jazeera the Azeri president comes across as a credible statesman, whilst the Armenian prime minister is rather less prepossessing. It would seem that the Azeri's have had enough after 28 years of border sniping and have resolved to re-take their internationally recognised land. Weaponry has advanced considerably over the past 28 years, and no doubt even more costly. But once all the weaponry is spent it boils down to foot soldiers. One hopes Armenia will see sense, and withdraw from land it has illegally occupied, but unfortunately they most likely see current events as an existential situation.

At a guess the new Armenian government has turned out to be no better than the previous one, and in order to improve their political image have played the oldest trick by provoking their neighbour? Well it looks like the Armenian government are finding out that they are 'Billy no mates'. The situation was settled by the UN decades ago, Armenia is trespassing, no one is impressed by their actions, and they will only have succeeded in bringing together the Shia nations in the region, some of whom would be only too happy to see Armenia itself defeated. They have taken the lid off the proverbial can of worms, one hopes they will realise this and stop their actions, before things get worse.

If they think Russia will help them I suspect they are very much mistaken, there's nothing in it for Russia.
