I suspect this mess from the demise of the USSR is similar to that of when the British abandoned their empire, and for convenience just drew lines on a map, and took no advice from those on the ground regarding tribal areas. Lets hope it turns out to be a 7 days war, and no more.

Cinoib I suspect there is more of that commodity to be had in Portugal than the UK!

Good to hear that Armenians are wanting to talk, but I guess the Azeri's will want to win something before they are willing to talk.

Anyone looking at a map of the area can see it is daft. If you accept that NK should be part of Armenia (which the international community doesn't, but run with the thought process), then it is an enclave entirely surrounded by Azerbaijan, and so crippled economically. While Nakchivan, the province where Ordubad is, is completely cut off from the rest of Azerbaijan, and has a small corridor to Turkey, a big border with Iran, and a main border with Armenia.
Just the fact that these 2 countries have these enclaves mean that there is scope for negotiation. And you would have thought it quite possible that what comes out of the negotiation is something that makes it easier to develop Ordubad. Once their heads are knocked together reaching a permanent solution that stops those two areas being economic backwaters will surely be a priority, and may also prove to be something that both sides can sell as a victory.

Topped up an extra 2800 shares this morning almost in the money. I'll take that as a result.. Healthy dividends heading my way over the next 12 months. Easy money.

"On a purely practical level also why on earth target a British company with heavy American involvement at all."

Quite so.
And the last thing the Armenians need is to get on the wrong side of any potential
arbiters at this time; beyond the Russkies, not a lot of friends to turn to.

fwliw, i don't even see the potential for any targeted Armenian incursion upon AAZ assets; not even one that impacts unintentionally.
I simply don't see the advantage in any attempt to advance [further] into Azerzbaijan, beyond just maybe a very short take of eg say some local high ground for immediate tactical reason.
The Armenians will want to conserve and limit damage being the weaker side in a contest of attrition.
That is the basic situation.
Underscored by the article Brasso posted above.
The Armenians are talking ceasefire, the Azerzis are not....

The fighting and destruction [currently the nearest ~70 miles away NW from Gedabek and ~30 from Gosha] will remain far enough away such that disruption from it will be minimal to nought.
AAZ supplies come in from the East, products shipped out ditto.

Ordubad looks kinda exposed, on the face of it; but Turkey will be in there like a shot [literally] upon any incursion.
Trenching to continue and hopefully there's a drilling rig or 2 active again following the relaxation of Covid strictures.

Suppose there is an outside chance of an escalation involving Russia and Turkey.
But that is in nobody's interests, which is why Erdogan and Putin have smoothed things over e.g. in Syria and Libya.

odsjp.

Can you please keep me in the weekly competition with PPC, President Energy?

So much going on there at the Company currently; Drilling, workovers, anticipated farm-in of National Oil Company into Paraguay assets.

A bit early I know, but I wanted to make sure I'm well in time for the Sunday night cut-off point.

Such fun!
