New Counties
Amerigroup Florida today announced that it has been selected by
the Florida Healthy Kids Corporation as part of a re-procurement
effort to continue serving the Florida Healthy Kids (FHK) program.
Amerigroup was selected to provide FHK services in four of
Florida’s most populous regions:
- Region 6: Hillsborough, Hardee,
Highlands, Manatee and Polk counties
- Region 7: Brevard, Orange, Osceola and
Seminole counties
- Region 10: Broward County
- Region 11: Miami-Dade and Monroe
counties
Services under a new contract are scheduled to launch on Oct. 1,
2015, and will allow Amerigroup to begin offering FHK services in
six new counties: Hardee, Highlands, Manatee, Miami-Dade, Monroe
and Osceola.
“Approximately one out of every six Florida Medicaid managed
care and FHK enrollees is served by Amerigroup,” said Rosy Cozad,
president and CEO of Amerigroup Florida. “We have devoted 100
percent of our attention and resources to serving the needs of
members in government programs, and we are fully committed to being
partners in improving the lives of Floridians.”
The FHK program is a joint federal and state government-funded
initiative created to offer low-cost, comprehensive health
insurance coverage for Florida children ages 5 through 18, who are
not eligible for Medicaid. Coverage includes doctor visits,
immunizations, dental care, emergency care, hospital stays,
behavioral health care, pharmacy benefits and more.
“We are pleased that Amerigroup’s ability to provide
comprehensive, high-quality, coordinated and cost-effective health
care services to members has been recognized by the FHK
Corporation, and we look forward to continuing our work as a
trusted FHK partner,” said Dr. Eina Fishman, chief medical officer
for Amerigroup Florida.
Amerigroup Florida has served the FHK program since 2003. As of
May 1, 2015, Amerigroup serves approximately 42,000 FHK members
across West-Central, Central and South Florida. Families who
currently participate in the FHK program will receive mail from FHK
before the new service period begins on Oct. 1, to inform them
about their re-enrollment options. Also, anyone interested in
learning more about the FHK program can visit www.healthykids.org.
