10/11/2018 23:49 | Just watched the highlights of the England NZ rugby. This was word for word what Eddie Jones said after the match: "I think we’re in a fantastic position. You know, I've said that all along. We needed to have a little bit of a slump to really re-ignite ourselves, and we've done that. We've got a great spirit within the team, great leadership, and we're looking ahead with a great deal of optimism." Now does that remind you of another situation or not? Sleep well. I know I will. 😴😊 | nemo19

10/11/2018 23:29 | I can't see the Haydthread as I have Timbo Filtered but I hear Kev Taylor (jaknife) is pumping it having previously called it a short (after my sound advice). That pump will be to get mugs to buy while Hayd get hit on discount and they will short it if they can get the share price up and get out via the fund raise (if it gets that far). How are Raba doing Kev do they know what you do on the side? | superg1

I can't forecast when Trump does a tweet that his farts are a little more pungent and it sends the DOW down 1000 points, but I can put he effort in to understand what may be about to happen here :-) | superg1

10/11/2018 21:50 | Lol LO ! Not enough hours in the day for this share ! So exciting the possibilities for graphene. Pleased to be in the leading company imo. Tbh i've taken aecom as a 'given,' just because it feels that way. I did stumble across an article on 3D printed concrete the other day, but i can't conceive how it would work ! Do they do that too ? :-0 best ellis | ellissj
10/11/2018 21:37 | Hey elliss if you want something to keep you busy have a look at AECOM and see what you come up with for graphene applications, they don't do much 😉 About AECOM AECOM (NYSE:ACM) is built to deliver a better world. We design, build, finance and operate infrastructure assets for governments, businesses and organizations in more than 150 countries. As a fully integrated firm, we connect knowledge and experience across our global network of experts to help clients solve their most complex challenges. From high-performance buildings and infrastructure, to resilient communities and environments, to stable and secure nations, our work is transformative, differentiated and vital. A Fortune 500 firm, AECOM had revenue of approximately $18.2 billion during fiscal year 2017. See how we deliver what others can only imagine at aecom.com and @AECOM. Twenty-five years ago, AECOM was formed when a handful of Ashland Inc. employees shared a dream of creating an industry-leading firm dedicated to making the world a better place. On April 6, 1990, AECOM became an independent company formed by the merger of five Ashland entities. While our official founding was in 1990, some of our predecessor firms had distinguished histories dating back more than 110 years. Since then, more than 50 companies have joined AECOM and, in 2007, we became a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: ACM). During 2014, our combination with URS Corporation was a game changer for the industry, more than doubling our revenue and workforce, furthering our status as the world’s #1-ranked engineering design firm by revenue, according to Engineering News-Record magazine. In 2015, we were recognized by Fortune magazine for the first time as a World’s Most Admired Company. I thought I would have a delve in a quiet moment but could make your head explode trying to unravel it all 💥 | luckyorange

10/11/2018 21:09 | And not forgetting the graphene DIT trade trip to India, with Stephen Hodge in attendence. Tata motors mentioned re light weighting. Best ellis "UK Group pitch graphene to Pune Inc" Oct 24, 2018, 23:37 IST Pune: A group of industry representatives and academicians from the UK on Wednesday pitched graphene, the “world’s thinnest material”, to representatives of Pune Inc for various applications. Most of the representatives were from auto and auto-component industries, representing companies like Tata Motors, Bharat Forge and research bodies like the National Chemical laboratory. The team from UK, under the aegis of Department for International Trade, British Trade Office, also met officials from the Pune-based Automotive Research Association of India and earlier members of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. “The real purpose of the visit is to collaborate in this very early stage technology. We see that the manufacturing capabilities here are very good and the country also has a good skills base,” said Liam Britnell, application manager, Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre, The University of Manchester. Graphene, found in the UK, is being envisaged to be used light weighting of automobiles, batteries for electric vehicles, anti-corrosive paints and coatings, composites, among others. Britnell said they have spoken to Tata Motors among the automakers and see some potential projects around light-weighting of vehicles, in which they can collaborate with ARAI. He said using graphene as an input in auto-components will help in decreasing the weight by a few percentage points. When asked about the cost, he said, “It is not going to be zero cost change, but we have to get to a point where the benefits outweigh the cost…Cost will be a challenge and it will have to be close enough to existing products that graphene seeks to replace.” Over time, he said, that they have learnt to control the material better and now “we have to scale-up the production of Graphene”. Britnell said that this is an effort to bring companies under one-roof so that they can collaborate in this new technology area and work together." | ellissj
10/11/2018 20:59 | What does all this mean ? There's loads of investment going into next gen engineering, including advanced materials. UK govt has a stated desire to be at the leading edge of EV tech per summit held in september. JLR and Tata clearly have an interest in graphene and 2D materials to be a member of Geic. VRS obviously has an opportunity as a tier 1 member to work with them and other geic partners when it opens. Am hopeful here of further news in this regard due course. That is all. Aimo. 10/11/2018 20:39 | Here's an extract from the geic rns. Note last sentence. Best ellis "As part of its membership Versarien will join the GEIC Technology Advisory Board and the Company will have dedicated GEIC laboratory space and the ability to utilise the centre's facilities. Other GEIC advisory panel partners include Airbus, Akzonobel, BAE Systems, BP, GKN Aerospace, Johnson & Johnson, Jaguar Land Rover, Siemens, Tata Steel and Thales. Neill Ricketts, CEO of Versarien, commented: "I am delighted that Versarien has joined the Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre as a tier one partner. "Through the GEIC we will be able to access a world class facility and be at the heart of graphene developments. We will also benefit from working alongside other GEIC corporate partners, enabling us to further advance the commercialisation of graphene." | ellissj
10/11/2018 20:31 | This tweet from neill earlier re new UoW facility is interesting. Best ellis Neill Ricketts @neillricketts Not sure how many people are aware of this new centre (link: warwick.ac.uk/fac/sc 3:17 pm · 10 Nov 2018 · Twitter for iPad Here's the warwick new centre page; "National Automotive Innovation Centre The National Automotive Innovation Centre will provide a critical mass of research capability combining automotive expertise nationally and internationally. NAIC will be a unique resource, with an environment to foster collaboration, cohesion and cross-fertilisation of knowledge. Academic and industrial R&D teams will work together using state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to develop breakthrough designs, technologies and processes. NAIC will address the shortage of skilled R&D staff across the automotive supply chain, developing the talent required for the demands of emerging technologies and engaging future generations of engineers. £150 million is being invested in the NAIC capital building and its research activities through a long-term commitment between Jaguar Land Rover, Tata Motors European Technical Centre, WMG and the University of Warwick, along with an expanding network of supplier companies. The government (Higher Education Funding Council England) has also provided £15 million of funding to support the capital project." | ellissj |
