Graphene on the way to superconductivity

Scientists at HZB have found evidence that double layers of graphene have a property that may let them conduct current completely without resistance.

From AR. Well done vrs. The standards indeed welcomed by a bona fide graphene company. Aimo. Best ellis

"The introduction of ISO/TS 80004-13: 2017 last year was a welcome development as it defined the vocabulary for graphene and two dimensional related materials. We are confident that our products meet the criteria."

Regarding the small Nanene order recently supplied to PRC, does anyone know if it travelled ok, ie: can we possibly expect to supply more from the UK to far-flung places until local production is sorted?

Not enough sandbag, we need more 😉

@sadbag it could mean that none of the hundreds of UK companies out there think it is worth hiring a DIT secondee or don't know they can. HMG cannot favour one UK company over another it breaks anti-competitive rules. The scheme will be open to them all as long as qualify.

Well, I've finally got a reply from HMG:

"I can confirm we have two individuals seconded to Versarien and a third person seconded to Rolls Royce UK.
We are unable to provide you with the individual's name due to an absolute exemption under Section 40(2) of the Act."

So, there we have it. The government think that RR with tens of thousands of employees and billions of pounds of exports justifies the secondment of someone from the DTI. What does that say about the secondment of two senior figures to Versarien? That one fact alone is massive. I repeat MASSIVE!

a lot of companies out there saying they supply graphene when in fact it is graphite.

get them standards sorted !

Timbo,

Just commenting that Elcora's Graphene is nearly 50% graphite according to their own data sheet.

scale-up...quality...top notch people on board... top secondees...etc. etc.

its been fascinating watching this unfold up to now.

looking forward to whats next.

@superg since you are such an expert why not just answer the surface area question above from @timbo?

I assume you can't.

Re Timbo then I'll move on.

I understand`Timbo is bitter, way back a good source said he had a sizeable holding in VRS but sold them for a small gain, perhaps it was piled into Hayd.

If true, no pleasure in that Timbo it's just people need to know the full picture imo.

re post 47454

"It would appear that CA2DM didn't test Nanene as it's way better on Graphene content"

In which case how do you rationalise the low surface area for nanene (indicative of multilayer) compared to the higher surface area for Elcora's material (indicative of fewer layer)?

Yeah, go to HL. I have limited experience of others, but I've always found them (HL) to be very good.

@tini5 LOL Nanene was called XT Graphene before that so could have been tested. NR tweeted a paper based on XT Graphene.

@tini5 very unlikely. The paper was published in "Advanced Materials" in 2018.

Serratia - CA2DM must have tested during or prior to Jan 2016 as that's when Elcora released that statement.

Nanene was launched in Feb 2017 so would assume it wasn't tested alongside Elcora offering.

2016

2017

And yes, agree with Nanene looking superior when comparing the data sheets.
