Tullow right in the thick of it could they be in the Epicentre? with Jethro if Joe and Carapa come good. Also Jethro and Joe could extend into the Exxon block ,the dollars will be flying soon.

Frontdoor, bull Good news for Tullow every $5 increase adds circa $100 million to Tullows FCF it will also give us an insight to who is controlling the price of Oil if they can sustain it.I think we may see lots of Volitility.

Looks like Uganda getting pressure from different sides to get oil into production

My concern is that you cannot trust Uganda so Tullow /Total must get iron clad Guarantees so that they can recover money spent perhaps from overseas Uganda assets.
Ifeel a letter to Tullow IR coming on.!

Morning SS. Yep it all comes down to supply and demand at the end of the day. Meanwhile the Apache rig for Suriname, Noble Sam Croft has departed nearshore US GoM bound initially for T&T CHA reported ETA: 2019-09-22 05:00 LT (UTC -4). Looks like that will now be an early Oct spud. Will be interesting to see if Apache drill an independent prospect, or do a virtual shoe in offset drill adjacent to XOM's find on border. Repsol's rig for Carapa doesn't seem to have arrived yet.

Good morning xx
Iguess we could all chat for hours on the price of Oil Saudi cannot blame the Oil minister for the price of Oil as you say too many variables.

The Gulf countries have ccome a long way in the last 70 years Some of the countries have not diversified as they needed too Dubai does not have the reserves that Saudi has so has developed in a different way.
Interesting that Saudi has been ruled by very old men who lived in the desert those countries who had younger rulers like Abu Dhabi well educated and more understanding of the modern world.
In the old days they did not want roads because it hurt the Camels feet, another story was that when the Oil started to flow they had so much money they kept in stores and the rats started to eat it. they asked what to do with it and were told to buy gold.
The countries locked inside the gulf have always been vulnerable to the straits of hormuz ,any hint of conflict used to send the POO rocketing,
Its a sign of how things have changed that we can have all the problems of late with Iran and little change in POO.
Two very good indicators for me are that countries locked inside are looking to store oil outside the Gulf in places like India and China, and build terminals by passing Hormuz.and looking to invest overseas like QP.
Eventually the price of oil will gravitate to a supply and demand position included in the cost has to be Exploration and refinery /transport costs.
Oil companies and Saudi have deep pockets but cannot run at a loss for ever.
Tullow is in a good position outside the Gulf but is directly linked to POO volatility.
I think the balance has been tipped by USA from as you say Shale Oil to trade talks used as tools to control Oil.it only takes a tweet now.
Saudi needs $80 a barrel Exploration needs it and so do Tullow. The one thing we know for sure is that Oil companies will not run at a loss for too long.

This weekend Saudi Arabia have replaced their highly regarded energy minister Khalid al-Falih with King Salman’s son Abdulaziz appointed. May presage a new policy to get prices back up to $70+. But what can SA do? Taking another 1 million bbls off the market may work in the short term but if price goes up you get more US shale. OTOH over-producing for 3 yrs runs down their cash pile. Which way are short to medium term oil prices headed now?

Maybe a change in Tone now Total and Tullow have turned up the heat,

Uganda government officials, however, put on a brave face, arguing it is still possible to salvage the deal and remain within the set timelines for delivery of first oil. “It is just a question of aligning a few issues,” says Peter Mulisa of Uganda National Oil Company.

“We do not see how this will derail the plans, the Sale Purchase Agreement is there, Tullow is still willing to sell its stake and Total and CNOOC still want to buy,” he said.

I'm sure Patrick Pouyanné has a plan. Doubt if it involves taking over the company, as TLW has too much debt. Selective asset buys, or farm-ins more likely.

Long term holder in Tlw - can't see the logic of Total farming down 40% of Orinduik to QP given it could be a multi billion potential - along with that they have shelved pipeline in Uganda for now. Could Tlw be in their sights??

The area is just one great pool of oil Gil/ECO said in his interview

"The whole area appears to be characterized by excellent quality reservoirs" in deep and also shallow waters, Tullow CEO Paul McDade said in a recent conference call, speaking chiefly of Guyana.

The Guyana-Suriname basin was last assessed by the US Geological Survey in 2002 at about 13 billion barrels of oil. USGS oil and gas assessment chief Chris Schenk told S&P Global Platts the agency expects to reevaluate it next year.

"When we look at the views across by kind of stitching together the 2-D and 3-D data [from Suriname] and taking into account Guyana activity going on next door, you'll find that the geologic setting is not changing much," Christmann said. "But it's exploration.

Many countries are trying to secure Oil away from the middle east Saudi is thinking about a new port outside of the Gulf. Ghana /Guyana is just the place to be.
Questions now is will it be a new FPSO about 3 years ? or can we fast track a tie in to Exxon facilities. or both.

I think Exxon (XOM) are running 3 drill ships currently. And Tullow have 1 drill ship. So there is a 1 in 4 chance it's TLW, or 1 in 3 chance it's TLW if one of XOM's drill ships is drilling Liza development wells.

XOM's other two rigs:-

Stena Carron spud Ranger-2 July 10th, with a new MARAD Notice just issued for "DST with intermittent gas flaring" taking place 8th to 19th September. So clearly that looks like being a "discovery". If it is one, then expect a significant increase in Ranger's resources to over 500 mmboe. Certainly worthy of an announcement.

Tom Madden spud Tripletail-1 on Aug 15th. Could be that, although maybe a tad early, but XOM can drill wells in 30 days.

TLW? Given its shallow upper tertiary Miocene then ought to be a quick drill. Could have TD'd by now and presumably have preliminary indications from logging while drilling?

On balance. Not sure who - we'll have to wait and see!
