Stunning performance in the rain by Celine Dion singing the classic L'Hymne à l'Amour at the climax of the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony. Bravo.

Anyone who missed it...

I attended physio at work this week for sciatica which has been ongoing for several months or more... included lower back massage.

Touch wood it appears to have eased up a little since.. have another session in couple of weeks time.

Trying to avoid stooping to pick things up and avoiding lifting anything heavy.

A rather dull day weather wise with 19c earlier this afternoon. Forecast looks nice for the weekend.

Attended Physio this afternoon, been seeing him for maintenance on my back for the past 2 years and definitely helps. Mrs wllmherk has been struggling with hooping cough and only now is she no longer suffering severe coughing bouts after 7 weeks. It got so bad she pulled a muscle at her ribcage. Her running has been put on hold so she won't be doing the half marathon scheduled for August. Glad your on the mend Aleman.

Finally got the MPAN Export number from Scottish Power so we are being paid for excess electricity we are returning to the grid, ridiculous wait of 4 months.

Up +0.78% this week with RECI the biggest faller and JLEN gaining most.

YTD +4.60%

I'm up +1.150% on the day today (FTSE100 +1.214%), up +1.29% on the week (FTSE100 +1.60%) and up +7.85% YTD (FTSE100 +7.14% and HIX +8.12%).

Best rises: IGG +3.66%, IMI +3.11% and RKT +2.44%.

Worst falls: SGRO -1.68%, TATE -0.54% and WDS -0.44%.

Two reported today, IMI and SGRO with opposite effects.. IGG continued its rise after yesterday's report.

Spent most of the day watching cricket until Windies were all out. Then time to go to the chippy, so I missed England's mini-collapse. Let's hope that tomorrow is better.

We have a garden party to attend late afternoon. Hope that the weather is kind, as it rained hard last year.

Enjoy your weekend.

Well done Dr B for reaching double figures.

Lovely sunny day a bit on the muggy side. Washing dried in two hours. A late afternoon walk and there seems to be thousands of blackberries everywhere . I seem to be fixated on them lately :-)

England in some late trouble.

Local village show tomorrow and I've entered some redcurrants. Pub fish and chips beforehand. Hike on sunday.

Lasagne and salad tonight with a bottle of something red.

Good weekend everyone.

+0.7%. YTD +3.6%. My lot still seem to be going absolutely nowhere, though I have booked a very modest tax payment on account and there were a couple of ex-dividends in there so maybe not so bad. It's good to see some of you doing very well but I'm struggling to understand it with all the profit warnings coming through. Markets seem heavily fixated on hopeful future interest rate trends while ignoring current deterioration.

I fell asleep this afternoon after the relatively easy job of mowing the front, which was patchy rather than long, after getting a weed and feed treatment. I've had kids to contend with on my own this week while Mrs A has not only still been working but doing a lot of late evening socialising with there being so many events for the many leavers. Over 10% of the school staff leaving this year surely cannot be a good thing but there is a new head cracking the whip after a few years of a soft regime. Mrs A seems ok with the new face at the top but will have some new colleagues to contend with next academic year - or whenever they get recruited.

It was quite bright and sunny. though tempered with a strong breeze in some cloudy spells. 24.7C after 13.3C.

Have a good weekend.

Very good end to what has felt like an underperforming week. However biggest risers were my larger trusts/funds holdings AUSC/VMID with only SUP adding more than 0.1% individually. Creo which is at a year low continued to drag.

We have just picked a few blackberries from some bushes on the open space next to our house on our lunchtime walk! Only enough to have with our breakfast in the morning but there are still a few on there, enough for a crumble!

Skinny, I couldn't believe the price of blackberries in Sainsbury's this week. £2.25p for a small handful , about twenty blackberries. I've got eight ice cream tubs full of blackberries in the freezer that cost just a few stings and scratches on the hands and arms :-)

In the kitchen all morning cooking.

My neighbour had left a huge bag of cooking apples on our doorstep before she went away for the weekend. I've made a start on cooking them, some for freezing, an apple pie and a blackberry and apple crumble :-)

Time for a late lunch, fried egg and bacon sandwiches with ketchup :-)

Apparently there's been some filming going on all week a few miles away with Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren in an adaptation of a murder mystery by Richard Osman.

Morning everyone. Sunny day

Aleman , as carpingtris says antibiotics should do the trick and I believe a pharmacist can write out that prescription now. Get well soon.

Mixed reaction to two of mine reporting today , IMI good , SGRO not good.

What have the Russians done to the rail network in France, arson ? Olympic Games start today. I enjoy watching the athletics and swimming but not things like break dancing and skateboarding :-)

Morning All.

Hope that clears up soon Aleman, nasty situation to have pain in your mouth.

2/7 for me this week, definitely both guesses!

I knew yesterday was awful in terms of summer weather but didn't realise just how bad until I realised the storage batteries were flat this morning and we have been using the grid for a few hours. Turns out it was the worst day for solar since 12th March at just 1.93kWh generated and ironing was done yesterday evening so our usage was obviously more than the batteries could cope with! It's a bright morning but the sun hasn't really got onto the panels properly yet.
