11/7/2024 19:01 | Portfolio +1.28% gains across the board except for SHEL, BP and VOD . Best gainer by a mile was RS1 +10% on an update. Lovely blue sky day 22C. Got the lawns trimmed and the debris from the recent rain and wind picked up . Looking smart now. Then fell asleep on the sun lounger. £5.91p for a pint with my postcode entered. Spaghetti and meatballs tonight in a chilli tomato sauce. Bottle of merlot. | ![]() philanderer
11/7/2024 17:54 | Well done to those posting above, humbling the indices. Not so sparkling here, +0.43% folio, will cost me a few places in this weeks table, as it's so bunched together. [FTSE All-Share +0.5%] HICL, AV., CPI, ADVT, PMGR, leading gainers. Outstanding faller was AA4(xd) Miserable day, low autumnal mist/cloud, fine drizzle on and off. 15C. | ![]() blueliner
11/7/2024 17:45 | I'm up +0.772% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.364%). Best rises: UU. +2.63%, KGF +2.59% and SGRO +2.29%. Worst falls: S32 -1.75%, VOD -1.68% and BHP -1.10%. OFWAT seems to have done UU. some good. Oils and miners down a bit. Cricket going well. DF | ![]() deanforester
11/7/2024 17:42 | Well done MrP thats a great day. Not too bad for me up about 1% - AV/VLX/KITW all adding more than 0.1% with MEGP only loser of note. 23-4 to the blues. xd's also cost me 0.1% I don't keep daily or weekly records but pretty sure thats a YTD high for me. England look like they will stuff the windies in the cricket. Not sure how many listen to R5 in the mornings, but I'm going to get on the hype train for sunday. | ![]() dr biotech
11/7/2024 17:04 | Well done, you lot. I thought I was doing well with +0.7%. DEC up almost 6% for no obvious reason. A grey morning became a light grey afternoon but remained dry despite not a bit of blue sky. It was cold on the bike in a slight northerly. Maybe that's why I was a bit sluggish. Or was I just fed up. People are so ignorant. I had to do an emergency stop for a self-walking dog. I could not even work out who it belonged to. It looked quiet out and about but cafes were very busy. I had to give my first choice a miss and was hard to find a seat in most. I think it was too cold outside for many (foreign?) tourists. 15.8C after 12.3C. (Leeming high was 14.8C.) I can imagine the heating going on later. I'm used to over £5 a pint in York but London seems to be pulling away a little with £6.50. | ![]() aleman
11/7/2024 16:58 | Aleman, we come out at £5.01 per pint on the postcode search in that area! I'll stick with Badger beers for the moment which is still Hall & Woodhouse. My current favourite is Cranborne Poacher with Fropical Ferret a close second, although worryingly that seems to have disappeared from their website! | ![]() mrphil
11/7/2024 16:53 | A good day for mylot, only 6 3 figure losers out of 54 holdings rest were up or unchanged. best value risers CPI,ZOO,RS1.OCDO. Up 1,12% Sunny afternoon after a dark cloudy morning,No rain so far, | ![]() malcolm caton

11/7/2024 16:06 | Commodities index is lower than H2/22 and has been for several months. £ is up v $ since H2/22 and has been for several months. £ is rising v Euro. Commodities in £s must be 10% down over 2 years. 2% CPI and a rising £ over such a time scale suggests suggests overtightening and room for rate cuts. If we really had an inflation problem compared to our trading partners, the £ would be falling and there'd be scaremongering about lifting rates to protect it. Surely the reverse equally applies. Inflation on target and a rising £ would usually lead to multiple rate cuts. | ![]() aleman

11/7/2024 11:46 | MrsP's mum just had a bit of a fall this morning. Ambulance would be "a few hours" as usual so MrsP has driven her to the hospital and there are 7 empty ambulances sitting outside with nobody in them......! We also have several parked outside an empty unit on our trading estate and there are more on the business park near home, so what's going on? | ![]() mrphil

11/7/2024 10:08 | I said to Mrs A, when they started suggesting Kane's been struggling with his back before the game (when they had clearly been infirmed it was improving), that it's disgraceful that Palmer and Watkins were not getting on when they have 22 goals from 33 PFL games and 19 from 37, respectfully. I said "about bloody time" when Watkins came on and cheered loudly when he scored. Mrs A does not like me being right but she got out of it a bit by agreeing with me for a change. :-) | ![]() aleman

11/7/2024 09:54 | Morning All. Beautiful sunny start here this morning. Didn't realise how sunny it was yesterday but we managed to generate more solar at home than any other day this year by the looks of it! Thanks for the pointers on our yellow "wild flower" which does indeed appear to be Common Hawkweed. It apparently has anti-inflammatory properties so I need to investigate! We also have a lovely orange flowered wild flower which I have now identified as Orange Hawkweed. Feeling guilty as I do still have a small number of UU. in the Drawdown. I sold most in response to their awful behaviour on sewerage but couldn't bring myself to sell all of them as they have been one of my best long term investments and are still showing +85% against original buy price. My lot are blue at the moment. | ![]() mrphil
11/7/2024 09:28 | Yorkshire (Vale of York) has nearly reached the July rainfall average already so this month is set to be the 13th consecutive wetter than average month. I'm not sure if this applies to the national average or not. (There will certainly be some regions where it does not apply but it probably applies to most.) When does it end? | ![]() aleman
11/7/2024 08:20 | Ice levels in the trickier parts of the NWP remain above average, with about 5 weeks of rapid melt left. Temperatures are creeping up but still marginally below normal. There is still sleet and snow in forecasts so looking slightly more wintery than normal. Something could come out of the woodwork (storm and warmer weather) but it's starting to look like I might have no sailing escapades to follow this year. | ![]() aleman
11/7/2024 07:58 | Good Morning. We've actually got blue sky this morning - a rare treat recently. | ![]() skinny |
