He isn't wrong Phil, one need only watch how the Police, Police the Palestinian protests. Where I live there has been a significant influx of migrants increasing the pressures on schools, hospitals and housing, not to mention welfare payments. The situation is unsustainable, I can see civil unrest and a rise of the far right in the not to distant future.

What is wrong with our market, FTSE down -0.40% whilst the DOW up +1.40%???

wllm :)

Phil - we watched the 1st Turkish Detective last night - I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and watch episode 2.

Haluk Bilginer played Mehmet Osman in Eastenders in the 1980s.

Morning everyone.

Heavy rain stopped at midnight. Sunny start but clouding over again.

Had to use subtitles on the new BBC1 drama 'The Jetty' last night . Won't be bothering with episode 2.

RIO update not gone down well.

One reason given for being tea-total is fear of having drunken images posted on social media. How the world has changed.

According to a recent report by the Portman Group in conjunction with YouGov, the largest proportion of non-drinkers was among the 18-24-year-olds, now at 39 per cent, up from 27 per cent in 2022.

Well I think I've discovered a company with even less competent than Everi.
Knock on the door just before 8am as I was contemplating a shower before going to work so I put on my dressing gown and go downstairs opening the door to the driver of a flooring superstore driver.
driver: I've got a delivery for you.
me: not for here you haven't
Driver reads out my house numvber and road name from his sheet.
me: I'm the only person living here and I definitely haven't ordered anything.
Driver: Leamington spa, CV32
me: This is coventry, CV5 , your about 8 miles from where you should be,

He appoligised for disturbing me and I suggested he try using his sat nav.

Mind you perhaps I should just have accepted the delivery, I could do with some new flooring, all mine has been down at least 30 years and the carpet in the lounge, hall, stairs and landing was second hand to start with.

Good morning. After a half-day of almost summery weather ... we're back to cool and drizzly. Streuth.

After a few years of higher than average snow mass in the Northern Hemisphere, this year is very high.

Good Morning.

Plenty of sustained, heavy rain overnight - and now plenty of slugs and snails out this morning.😡

Portfolio -0.89% , awful day , everything red apart from HILS. China I suppose. I can't be bothered trying to work out the reason for the volatility.

Overcast all day , an hours rain earlier but the heavens have just opened and it's chucking it down. Thunder rumbles as well. 19C

Housework cleaning and a walk this afternoon. Picked about 5lb of blackberries for the freezer.

Bangers, mash, baked beans and fried onions tonight. Bottle of red.

I'm down -0.830% on the day today (FTSE100 -0.848%).

Worst falls: SSE -2.54%, NG. -2.25% and UU. -2.08%.

Best rises: WDS +1.58%, BA. +0.87% and SMDS +0.62%.

Utilities let me down today. WDS was a bright spot.

We had a brief spell of light rain about lunchtime, but it has just started raining in earnest. Glad I don't watch football. Women's cricket was another bright spot.

A mixed bag but the less marginal rises at BEG and DEC helped edge me to +0.1%.

Shopped at SBRY. A few offers but nothing to stir up excitement and still noticing odd cases of shrinkflation or cheapening ingredients.

A lovely summery day with a pleasant breeze. Shame I was too busy with other stuff to get garden jobs done.

I've taken to wearing a baseball hat to keep the rain off the glasses I quite often wear now for distance but I went without the hat in the sun today and had a headache all afternoon. I think it's been that bad that I'm not used to sunshine! Maybe I need prescription sunglasses for the rare sunny occasions now ...

It felt very warm in the sun even though the actual temperature was still just below average for the garden. I think I have become accustomed to the cold again. 22.0C after 11.2C.

Aleman - I've been saying it for years (decades), how can you put a group of high earning, top class premiership (mostly) footballers out and all they can do is play one two, slowly drifting back to the inevitable pass back to the goal keeper.

I watched 3 of England's games for the first time in years and nothing has changed - I won't waste time, energy and angst again.
