Re stmartin post 7368.

I looked at this board for info regarding info on Melrose and am gobsmacked by what I am reading! I also looked back to see when the company was last discussed and stopped at stmartin's post as he had gone back as far as 17 December and found nothing.

I use ADVFN to pick up, hopefully, useful information about companies in which I am considering investing in or are already in, like this one, as a result of my previous holding in GKN.

Would anyone care to post something about Melrose?

I agree but would go further, beyond the U.K., to include the world, possibly beyond that.

What is needed is a new form of peaceful anarchy, currently being developed here in Wales. When it's ready to roll out, you'll hear of it.

Until then, we'll just have to accept that there will be spoilers on this board.

These boards are increasingly (sadly) becoming a microcosm of the discord afflicting the United Kingdom.

He is a small time investor. There are a number of clues. You can tell by the recent exchanges on the BUR board where he stated repeatedly that £100k/year is 'a huge salary', whereas the reality is it is merely a very good salary. (Denise Coates earns a huge salary at £265m/year, so did Martin Sorrell ex-WPP). You can tell by his admission that he goes to 'Bills' for 'a treat'! Or hunting around on the internet to save a few quid on a set of wheels for his car. None of these things tallies with someone who is a big investor, that much is clear.

Grilled salmon with sauté potatoes and steamed, buttered fennel followed by panettone and butter pudding, with Madeira custard this evening. Am very hungry having spent the afternoon chopping logs.

I still don’t think a REAL PROFESSIONAL INVESTOR would be wasting his valuable time posting on Advfn.

PS. Have made a lot myself on TR Property over the last week, PLUS a great big dividend on 2nd Jan.

Interesting purchase of stock by Mr Roper who has an enviable record of dealing in Melrose stock.He sold a sizeable slab of stock some time back near the shares all time high of 255p.
