10/1/2019 18:01 | MW, my image is overweight, beard and glasses, lots of brown clothing including cardigans, sits in an armchair a lot, struggles to work his phone, slightly grumpy but in an endearing way, fuzzy thinker, gets frustrated easily when he can't understand something that is a bit esoteric or has some complexity. Career - something middle-ranking in the public sector, definitely not to do with finance or indeed anything involving numbers. | gettingrichslow
10/1/2019 17:55 | There is a possibility that PLUS could be printing money at the moment with all the volatility that's been around. If that's right, the shares could rocket when the update comes, especially if Singapore, Oz, Japan are coming on. Hope so anyway, I've gone fairly big on PLUS! | gettingrichslow
10/1/2019 17:47 | Hi Getting. Sadly don’t have any celeriac otherwise it would have been celeriac mash. Agree about MRO and BUR. PLUS doing pretty well at present. I don’t know about you but I have picture in my mind of other posters. I gave mine of Zimmer yesterday. Have been thinking about MW. Have decided he is quite thin, average height, beard and wears garish hand knitted jumpers made by Mrs MW. Career, probably a local government officer - perhaps deputy manager in school meals. Hence his great interest in my menus!!! What do you think? | brexitplus
10/1/2019 17:43 | Venison sausages sound good. Celeriac mash goes well with that with a Pinot Noir. Just had an amazing 'working lunch' at the Barbary. Incredible food. Good value too at only just north of £300 for 4! Not sure how they make a profit frankly. Another good day on the markets. Nice recovery for MRO. Great day for BUR. Minny's predictions wrong again on that one! | gettingrichslow
10/1/2019 17:11 | MW. Dinner update. After discussion with Mrs B+ we have decided on something different. Menu is Venison and Chestnut sausages (venison from Berkeley Estate), mustard mash and buttered cabbage. Pudding is very simple - tinned peaches with Skyr yoghourt. Very healthy, I’m sure you will agree. Perhaps your “chum” would like to copy your response since you are filtered. Also, could you ask him to hurry up with the FT Alphaville references to “Melrose” | brexitplus
10/1/2019 16:42 | getting will also be going into this parallel subject, 'preemptive rights', in some considerable detail in his presentation, explaining how the investor can fool himself into thinking he's made money when he actually hasn't. “Out, damned spot! out, I say!” | meanwhile
10/1/2019 16:34 | Another rise, albeit small, but still up about 10% in a week. For MW only. Haven’t decided on dinner yet. Could be lamb chops (not Welsh but local English) or liver casserole. Keep following for updates. | brexitplus
09/1/2019 23:30 | Preemptive rights?....US style book building and placings not requiring approval, have made the old fashioned rights issue pretty much a thing of the past. | steeplejack
09/1/2019 23:15 | Spot on, steeplejack, but punctuation poor. Now to complete the evening, let's have getting give us a presentation on 'Rights Issues', with particular regard to how an investor can use a rights issue to make him think he's made good profit, (which may even be in the form of cash sitting in the bank), but without actually having made it. In the presentation, getting will expand on this apparent conundrum. | meanwhile
09/1/2019 21:51 | No probs These troll types try to ruin everything - best ignored | mattboxy
09/1/2019 21:30 | @mattboxy Thanks for reminding me of that possibilty. | stmartin
09/1/2019 20:51 | Every now and then I check in on this thread to see if it's improved. From the responses it's clear that Minerve is still spouting and abusing people. I've had him on filter and that removes one problem with the thread the second problem is people responding to him. If everyone filtered it would improve things dramatically if not then he's won and killed it. FILTER FILTER FILTER | mattboxy
09/1/2019 19:56 | Not bad for a man who’s early Investment career started in the investment department of Eagle Star latterly Threadneedle. | steeplejack
09/1/2019 19:53 | It's always interesting to see how long it takes new posters to realise what an odious individual Minerve is. In the case of Stmartin it took all of 5 minutes! Meanwhile of course still hasn't realised. But then again, this is the man that thinks the guys who run Melrose are greedy and excessively remunerated, and frequently comments how disgraceful it is, yet has all (or is it nearly all?) of his stock market investments in... errr... Melrose!! What a complete clown! It is very funny though. Makes me laugh out loud every time I think about it. | gettingrichslow
09/1/2019 18:31 | What do you think “The fund run by one of Britain's best-known investors Neil Woodford has paid out a £36.5m dividend despite several of his largest positions losing money. Mr Woodford, who said in an interview last November that the last two years have been the toughest of his career, has seen billions pulled from his funds in recent months. However, recent filings show that Woodford Investment Management made a multi-million payout for the year to March as profits hit £41.7m. While the firm's previous set of results only cover a half-year period due to a technical change in its accounts, the £36.5m dividend is more than double the £12.7m paid out for the six months to March 2017.” Now he is a high earner!!!! | brexitplus
09/1/2019 18:21 | Zimmer Thanks for copying MW’s post. Usual drivel. I might consider posting the responses to your drivel from other boards. Hardly any of it complimentary. However, life is too short to correlate all the post from “your friends”. Getting knows the score. By the way, how are you getting on with “The Definitive Guide to Small Company Investing” you promised us all those months ago. | brexitplus
09/1/2019 18:18 | In case MW is following this, dinner tonight is lamb, rice, tomato, onion and celery stuffed peppers. Pudding is the second half of the delicious panettone and butter pudding. | brexitplus
09/1/2019 18:07 | Stmartin You’ll notice that when Zimmer (I call him that as I picture him sat in his armchair, Zimmer frame beside him, whisky glass in hand, waiting for meals on wheels while posting) always changes the subject when he can’t justify one of his statements. | brexitplus
09/1/2019 18:03 | Oh, by-the-way, I am doing VERY well in housebuilders and Kier. I know you and getting were attempting to discredit me on those investments but I would hazard a guess that my unrealised profits alone on Kier are more than either you or getting earn in 6 months - and we are only 9th January. ;) Liberum just delivered a 660p TP. My homework and steadfastness in the face of moronic adversity has again paid off. It is almost becoming a fact that the more adversity you get on a share on ADVFN the more money you'll make! LOL | minerve
09/1/2019 18:02 | Meanwhile, please don’t bother to jump to Zimmer’s defence. You are filtered. He really must justify his statements to have any credibility. | brexitplus
09/1/2019 17:55 | 😁😁 | brexitplus |
