17/12/2018 18:06 | Well you f%ckers voted for it. Suck it, idiots. Dear me. Turkeys voting for Christmas. Honestly, you couldn't make it up. LOL | minerve
17/12/2018 17:54 | Getting I have a bit of that, and have a capital gains situation and IHT is a certainty. However you are correct in Hampshire a £150k terraced house will get you £500-£60 I have just subscribed to an ADVFN news sheet for income shares I hope its £104.28 well spent. | jackdaw4243
17/12/2018 17:25 | It's at times like this that I sometimes wonder why i didn't 'leverage up' even more on the property market. If you watch these endless property programmes you see a common scenario where a bloke snaps up a terraced house in say Liverpool, for £40k, spends £10k making it look OK and then gets £450 per month rental. Even allowing for void periods etc, that's a guaranteed 10% per year return before any capital growth or loss. Now clearly there is more effort required doing that than there is by clicking a few buttons to buy or sell shares but there is so little downside in the long run. | gettingrichslow
17/12/2018 17:08 | My news sheets from the brokers that want to manage my investments are all very "Bearish" China and America seem to be calling the shots with Chinese debt and manipulation of their loan book giving concerns, Sunday Times. | jackdaw4243
17/12/2018 17:06 | "Mrs May suffers from the Peter Principle." I agree, sogoesit, and she is an extreme case, having never even showed any competence in previous lower positions. Can anyone name an achievement when in her previous jobs of Party Chairman and Home Secretary and Minister for Women and Equalities? As a vicar's daughter, she might be OK at chairing a fundraising organisation to fix the church roof, but nothing more advanced. Disaster follows her. | meanwhile
17/12/2018 16:56 | In my view what we're looking for is a moment of capitulation in the markets before we can think about a turn. US markets are down about 10%'ish since the highs so, in all, not so bad. When we see something like 20% down there should be enough good value to drive them up. FTSE-100 down to 6250? S&P below 2500? The Fed's stance is critical to a turn. If they back-off the, excessive imv, tightening then we could get momentum into a turn. Until then wait and see and be protected! | sogoesit
17/12/2018 15:35 | Pretty horrible day across the board. Markets hate uncertainty, cash remains king and so much for old Santa and his rally - at least the bottom can't be too far off now.... I don't think the market can go on like this until March....can it? | yertiz
17/12/2018 15:24 | See what to day brings with Teflon Lady,s commons statement. ASOS a bit against the trend, and my wife is trying hard to keep M & S,s sales figures up by the look bags in the spare bedroom. | jackdaw4243
17/12/2018 08:00 | Mrs May suffers from the Peter Principle. | sogoesit
16/12/2018 20:08 | WE have had a defining moment Mrs May's cabinet is now coming out with alternatives, Amber Rudd the first to basically say "stop ramming the same car into the same wall" | jackdaw4243
16/12/2018 18:50 | Tommy Hobgoblin, you are not new to this site. You posted on the Melrose board on 17 October. You are MW and I claim my £5. PS Just back from a fantastic Carol Concert with niece singing soprano in the choir. | brexitplus
16/12/2018 17:36 | Try "Linda Lovelace" on Golf. "Don't choke on the big ones when putting" | jackdaw4243
16/12/2018 17:31 | Hi, I'm new to this site but would like to take part in the discussions of Melrose and all the other things that might arise. I'd like to start by joining your forecasting of Melrose share price at year end. My guess is : £3 by Christmas. I also like films and I'm interested in what films other posters have as their favourites. The poster gettingrichslow seems the sort to have such an interest. Can I start by asking him whether 2 films are among his favourites. These are :- Meet me in St Louis. Night of the living dead. | tommy hobgoblin

16/12/2018 15:39 | mayers Yes it is disgraceful what has been said about Wales by some here. "life is too short to live in Wales" - what is all that about? Disgusting. I think it tells you all you need to know about one individual. | minerve
15/12/2018 23:04 | Thanks Minerve. | mayers
15/12/2018 22:57 | I can only say that that is a pathetic response but wholly in keeping with the sort of comments I have read from you. My response was following a topic raised by another member, the perceptive MW, which I am sure is of interest to some open-minded participants. I will leave it there. | mayers |
