12/6/2019 10:42 | Well the pensions lot apologised two weeks ago for miscalculating pension forecasts and sending them out knowing they were wrong! It's been all over the web and is still running in the Mail. If you are about to retire and you've been contracted out, expect less than any forecast you've had - at least that would be prudent! | shy tott
12/6/2019 10:31 | If you ask for a pensions forecast from the official pensions lot, they give work it out not taking anything off for the contracted out. If you say so then this must have been the case once. But it isn't with a modern online state pension forecast, which gives you chapter and verse on a year by year basis going back to the year dot. One forecast I did showed the soon-to-be pensioner quite well down on the full state pension owing to contracting out in the 80s. That shortfall is now being addressed and will be made good in two years. These modern forecasts are actually a bit creepy, seeing your life laid out before you going back to age 16. | grahamite2
12/6/2019 10:27 | Oldsters will be thrilled to read this and find out where the money is going.. | maxk
12/6/2019 10:24 | The greengrocers' apostrophe has been a phenomenon known for many decades! | grahamite2
12/6/2019 10:20 | Graham, because now you have to have 35 years of ni credits for the full pension, plus not haave been contracted out. If you ask for a pensions forecast from the official pensions lot, they give work it out not taking anything off for the contracted out. When the pension actually comes, then they work it out taking off any contracted out deductions. There's a lot of concern (started by a very awkward friend of mine) at the moment. Many seem to treat the forecast as gospel, and are annoyed when their actual pension is much less! | shy tott
12/6/2019 10:19 | I agree Shy. We should all strive to protect decent grammar and English. Mine is appalling and I am happy to accept instruction and teachings where necessary. My only annoyance is when others simply use it as purely a means to discredit a person or quickly change the subject. I'm off to make some coffee's LOL | minerve 2
12/6/2019 10:10 | Shy Tott, I voted up your post on pensions which is absolutely on the money - except for one thing. I don't know why you would think very few people who have made provision for their retirement would get 100% of the state pension. One way and another I have been doing a lot of state pension forecasts lately and all show 100% entitlement already or soon to come - all, including my own! | grahamite2

12/6/2019 09:55 | Verbatim from an article, link not copyable! Former cabinet minister David Mellor stated in reference to the court case involving Boris Johnson that it is quite normal for politicians to exaggerate and say things which are not true at election times. This is a sad state of affairs which indicates seats won and policies determined that could be based on nothing more than a pack of lies. | gotnorolex
12/6/2019 09:53 | Well I wont be paying any TV licence as I use Now TV, Netflix and Amazon prime for my TV delights. Last time I watched BBC2, BBC4, CH4, CH5 must be about 10 years or so ago. BBC1 - cant remember. At least 5 years. Given I'm forking out for cable tv, BT Sport, and the above 3 (Neflix,Now n Amazon) and dont even use terrestrial television why should I have to pay a licence fee? And the salaries of BBC staff are outrageous. As is their bias. | crossing_the_rubicon
