Thanks OH - the markets seem to indeed reflect such shorter term concerns and I agree that longer term this (unless it goes bust which is a v low probability event, at this juncture) will be a real winner. One day at the time. PS. You're still in SDI?

Congratulations on your investment. Still watching to see how far it will fall and continue to be only interested sub 10, given the high risk here.If it does, then I will reinvest as long term this is still a great opportunity.Isolating passengers in hotels when it is official announced should continue the current downward trend.

On the house now with zero risk. Not taking any partial profits this time for a tad longer.

Thanks pal - not making any meaningful money yet though as my avg price is 1249. And yes - I agree not losing is far more important than theoretical money missed out on. This game is all about what we don't do, not the other way around. Good luck and let's see what the next few days will have in store for us.

snorkel - due to such extraordinary circumstances it's indeed a thankless task to assess how long the gas in the tank will last for. As a matter of fact I have gone short today for purely tactical reasons (not strategic ones). The larger trend is still firmly up though (unless we break south of 900, in my view). One day at a time and being 100% flexible is the name of the game. Especially in these unprecedented times. Good luck.

One of the amusing aspects of it all is a proliferation of posts (on bad days) from our resident ramper-turned-deramper. Must be quite a mental anguish having missed out on a 600+ rally and hence the tears for joy on down day. Quite an entertainer. Pls keep it up. PS. Still pals with the big boss and everyone else?lol

As I warned many months ago any bad news and this was Ilkley to happen.
The news is very bad and they are still over priced.
Be a much better ride up later.

Next stop Ilkley 15/18 quid .REALLY!
Anyway let’s see how this finishes

It’s not in the price in my opinion.
I expect a further fall in the morning

is the news on hotel quarantine in the price now ..or was it not out during Fridays trading hours...I'm in the Far East..if this comes in it's game over for the travel industry ...the 14 day experience is tough have 3 friends that have done it and never again ..there is also the fact that hotels then get a captive audience the Concorde in Singapore I'm reliably informed is at max capacity and that's 500 rooms and its one of many..cost to quarantine I believe is around 2k
...if they go down this route not sure how easy it will be to extract the country from it...Here we have resided ourselves that unlikely to travel without hotel quarantine for at least 6 months to year how bad is that..one group that won't complain are the hotel owners and all good revenue for blighty..does boris want pounds that could be spent in the UK spent in Spain .

Maybe and a good point in that that is a key factor why I always break down the proverbial long term into very short windows. I personally find it far easier to predict the weather a few days out than a year out.

Maybe but we're close to 1400. Nothing short but stunning, under the circumstances. US futures stretched on the downside (for the day) so it will be interesting how things pan out from such a point.

I think that the market is expecting no good news, indeed bad news for the travel and leisure sectors from Boris's 5.00pm address.Certainly the US market is unlikely to help on opening.

Uncle Sam holds the keys. Like I said a few days back, a key headwind to the entire equity complex are v stretched levels on RUT and NDX especially.

this doesn't have the look of a quick snap back recovery. Maybe selling into the close ?

100%. If that would be the new path of least resistance I would be the first to change my stance and switch to the short side if the market signals that will be the way forward. Until then it's best to sit back and relax.

We all have our strong and weak points. The trick is knowing when to avoid actions driven by our weaker side. You're doing that so kudos.

but your right...there is a time when shorting fundamentals works ..but even then the market as you say will be telegraphing that way before
