We all have our strong and weak points. The trick is knowing when to avoid actions driven by our weaker side. You're doing that so kudos.

but your right...there is a time when shorting fundamentals works ..but even then the market as you say will be telegraphing that way before

Think the Govt. has a cunning plan, encourage people to catch it by mixing in groups, then fine them £800, and they have a net profit of £300, after ex’s likely £250!

Snorkel - you're one of those posters whose opinion I respect on this board. Re shorting - if you decide to do so you don't want to do so on fundamental grounds but on technical ones. And for that you would need a "tired" top (last time we had one was in Dec/Jan last year) not the current one. On the balance of probabilities. By way of illustration, David Einhorn (one of the brightest minds in the hedge fund world) has kept shorting Tesla for years and lost a ton on money on his fundamentally driven shorting.

No idea why this is holding up so well, looking at the news reports concerning outdoor gatherings, the likelihood of the Olympics being cancelled, the further delay to the release of the Bond film, it is hard to believe tourism will be returning in earnest this spring/summer.

The key 1500 level being a tug of war between bulls and bears.

Once firmly crossed, I would expect a very rapid advance from here

Can I ask is the reverse true if it does not break 1500?

How much will your wife's new BMW be worth five years from now?

I saw bad times coming and sold out at nearly 40% less than now! With the money in the bank the wife, who hates shares, went down to the BMW dealership and came home smiling! I like the company and will get back in - but too risky ATM for me.

For you CT - I live in mainland Spain and progress is slow with the vaccine and following the Christmas/New Year/3 kings infections here are up 50% every 3 days at the moment.

"The tourist season of the Balearic Islands is even more endangered. The president of the government, Pedro Sánchez, said yesterday that tourists will only be able to come once 70% of the population vaccinated against covid is reached, which he estimated will be by the "end of Summer". Spain will be "progressively" prepared to receive international tourists by the end of summer, said Sánchez, who stressed that only mass vaccination "will open the way to the normality we want".

In his speech to the 113th meeting of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), held yesterday in Madrid, the President of the Executive referred to the upcoming tourist season. "The Government is working to vaccinate at the fastest possible rate - and in fact Spain is the ninth country in the world in vaccination and one of the first in Europe - to reach the end of summer at 70%, which will allow Spain to be progressively better prepared to receive international tourists,"
