23/6/2024 00:11 | As somebody said the other day , plenty of total cretins on this chat room. Butler , please remind me of any added value you’ve posted…… Let me keep it very simple for the simpletons (like you two). Buybacks are done to support the shares but primarily to be earnings accretive. “How so?” Because if you pay out all your earnings to shareholders but cancel 10% of the shares , then the earnings received go up by 10%….. you both can’t be that thick to not be able to work out what a 5p dividend + a 10% uplift makes……. And yes , to the annoying snipe “but nothings be cancelled yet.” In time it will be , when it’s got to a meaningful amount. “Im in the 5% knowledgable category.” Prove it with something meaningful , inciteful or intelligent , rather than a Daily Mail fuelled green eyed monster jealous snipe. Childish and pathetic. | ![]() matthewr1

22/6/2024 21:52 | Have to agree with you there, jonny, I've often found myself rolling my eyes at wanabee city boy matthew, he obviously doesn't know what he's talking about, as do 95% of folk on here! (I am in the 5% knowledgeable bracket). | ![]() thebutler
22/6/2024 21:18 | The share buyback is a boost to shareholders, it reduces the amount of shares in the company adding value to the share price for existing holders. It is an efficient use of cash reserves. The rise on Friday may be down to the J P Morgan BUY rec. If the market has woken up to an obviously undervalued share or there is something more behind the rise we will discover next week. A poster on LSE last week was convincingly accurate in all that was in JPM's statement but cited an employee within ITV's marketing dept stating things there were much better than earlier forecasts. It would be good if this move up isn't a false flag and all that the JPM buy rec is just the start of better times. | ![]() exlogiclad
22/6/2024 19:13 | Matt - I want the buyback AND a dividend increase! Greed is good. | ![]() loginname
22/6/2024 16:48 | No you don't. A 5p dividend is 5p, and a 5.5p dividend is 5.5p What ON EARTH are you on about? spud | ![]() jonnybig
22/6/2024 12:54 | Loginname. Buyback and cancel 10% of the shares and you get 5.5p dividend anyway. But I agree I think there’s a good chance of a more upbeat message , however it manifests itself. | ![]() matthewr1
22/6/2024 08:24 | will the plebs ever break even?they are all so expert on itv, its share price manipulation, its takeovers, its viewing figures, its financial numbers, yet they hold through a recession - why would they do that and call it up the whole time? then they turn on the people who told them what was going happen and blame the dame for everything...the fault is clearly closer to home....the big question is...have they learned for next time....?or will they just congratulate themselves on getting back to where they started?when it is taken over after 25 years of rumours, will they say, told you so? | ![]() stansmith1
22/6/2024 07:47 | Having read the whole article above I’m going to stick my neck out and say a dividend INCREASE is highly likely in the July interim statement. Current baseline expectation is still the 1.7p element of the annual 5p total - so I’m going to suggest an increase to 2p interim and later in the financial year a 3.5p final total 5.5p ( yes this equates to a 10% increase in div payout ). You heard it here first! Bookmark this! | ![]() loginname
22/6/2024 07:37 | Back to the numbers stuff, we know about the JPM upgrade but here are some more details behind it “The firm revised its forecast for ITV's full-year advertising growth from a modest 0.4% to a more robust 5%. This change is based on an 11% growth prediction for the first half of the year and an expectation of steady revenues in the second half. The analyst noted that the first quarter's performance exceeded expectations with a 3% increase and anticipates the second quarter could see a surge close to 20%, surpassing ITV’s own guidance of 12%.” Sounds good! | ![]() loginname

21/6/2024 18:07 | "Huckers21 Jun '24 - 17:04 - 8014 of 8015 Last triple witching also saw 51m shares change hands." I looked it up - you're right, FT Market Data shows 50,729,381 shares traded on 15th March (3rd Friday in March). However... March 14th close was 71.10 and March 15th close was 71.28 so even with triple witching and volume of 50m+ in March ITV only gained 0.25% that day. Today also with 50m+ volume we closed up circa 5% - quite a different outcome given the same volume... | bigegoadvfn
