27/6/2024 15:51 | I don't like buybacks It smacks of a lack of ambition. Is there really nothing in ITV world they can invest in that yields a return higher than the cost of capital? | marksp2011
27/6/2024 15:49 | It's still trading at a yield of 6.2% that isn't the issue. | smurfy2001
27/6/2024 15:44 | Had the management spent the spare cash on higher dividends then the share price would've been 200p by now | spacedust
27/6/2024 15:42 | Lloyds have been stuck in the 50s for yrs. The others have gone up due to sector rising. Hbr have done billions of pounds of share buy backs for yrs and yrs and the share price has been stuck at 300p | spacedust
27/6/2024 15:09 | Depends if the company is trading well below NAV and the buyback increases the share price over time by cancelling the shares. NatWest, Barclays, LLoyds, Aviva are good examples where the share prices are indeed appreciating nicely. | smurfy2001
27/6/2024 14:24 | Tiny volume so far | marksp2011
27/6/2024 12:24 | bobtoo true, although there are even more multi avatar posters than people realise..the thread is overrun and more useless than ever...yes, jonnybag doesnt seem to grasp the concept of a hedge funhope you are enjoying the rise and planning your long awaited exit | stansmith1
27/6/2024 12:13 | You're totally correct about the buyback, thebutler. I posted something during the previous suspension and predicted what would happen and I was absolutely spot on! Time for an update from goldfinger methinks! spud | jonnybig
27/6/2024 11:38 | Rubbish game but the viewing figures knocks it into the back of the net! | robwt
27/6/2024 11:13 | I thought as much, but now I think the other thread is discovering that thebutler/johnnybig is the same tool urgently in need of sharpening. The biggest laugh I had is when Johnnybig posted that it was impossible to be long and short a stock at the same time. How thick is an investor who can't understand what Hedge Funds do on daily basis. | bobdiamond1
27/6/2024 10:54 | Yet again, ignorance abounds. The buyback has not been suspended. Like someone said it's all about the moving averages and algorithms, and accordingly you always get gaps in buybacks. Don't know why I bother explaining though, the usual suspects are too thick to understand. | thebutler
27/6/2024 10:49 | Considering we all have a piece of ITV, the management might break the rule of a lifetime and keep shareholders informed. | slater5
27/6/2024 10:44 | Any company including ITV can delay, put on hold or completely stop the share buyback if the management decide to. What happens to the residue of cash not used if they cancel the buyback, again they have several options. A special dividend or pay down debt. The board may be signalling that they expect a good interim to boost the share price to a level above their plans. However that is pure speculation. Let us wait and see if they resume buying soon. | robwt
27/6/2024 09:50 | The share buy back will have been suspended because of the price spike. The buyback will only be triggered when the moving average is within a range - the same thing has happened with other buybacks that effect my holdings especially in the renewables sector If you get a sudden 5% spike, the BB stops until the price is within a band around a 10 day MA. they are supposed to be trying to buy in shares without having an inordinate impact on that days trading | marksp2011
27/6/2024 07:38 | When are ITV going to put out an RNS relating to why the share buy back has been paused? If it's to simplify negotiations relating to a possible takeover that's fair enough, but I think its only fair that shareholders are informed. My pension pot has a significant number of shares that I'd like to move on at a decent price before the Labour party start to shaft us all. | tlobs2
26/6/2024 21:23 | Getting close to ftse100? | smurfy2001
26/6/2024 16:13 | I don't know how anyone can watch any sport! So boring, ha ha. (I do have ADHD, though). As long as people watch ITV, they can show whatever they like, however. | mikescotchegg
26/6/2024 14:39 | Wonder if we will get a good base on the chart at 80 pence | 2bluelynn |
