options.
a) you can set timer to download your programs in the UK and put in the cloud so can watch anywhere... Perhaps semi-stream them that way too (eg put in dropbox etc).
b) Video camera a UK tv set (LOL) - but it can work OK...ish
c) Vpn as others have said (but a bit pot luck).

"I recently tried to get ITVX & BBC iPlayer when in USA and neither would let me . I am told it’s possible with a VPN but I didn’t bother""

Touch and go using a VPN to access Itvx and BBCiplayer.
ITVx easier I believe.

Have to use a UK VPN Server - BBC iplayer always rejected most of these too. Itvx a bit more forgiving.

It certainly was a very positive JPM note insatiable demand for ITV's airtime was one of the comments mentioned to me and nice upgrade in earnings forecasts, even better if England progress further....!

The marketing and investor relations teams at ITV are abysmal. Their phones are probably all ex-directory.

tlobs..You're right, it's not good. A recent post on LSE about ITV doing much better than expected purported to come from someone employed at ITV marketing. If that turns out to be the case next month, why can't they tell the market now.

Other companies issue up to date statements all the time. The new guy at RR Tufan Erginbilgic informs shareholders almost weekly about the fortunes of RR. Having said that RR is a rocket and hard to believe was around 80p the same as ITV in March 2022 when McCall had her Liz Truss moment.

RR today 450p, ITV still down at a lowly 81p, the share price performance like the investor relations team is abysmal.

They spend more money on diversity and inclusion than marketing.

I fail to see what benefit large European viewing figues on ITVX clould have to ITV.
They would be illegal users as ITVX isn't sold outside the UK. (And I imagine could'd be)

Kelso , I’ve been away for a few days , so just want to circle back on your dividend comment from a few days ago where you backed Johnnybig that an eps increase doesn’t necessarily mean a dividend increase & allude to the Fitch report post buyback announcement that were the company to not raise the dividend it would save the company circa 10%. I agree entirely that an eps increase doesn’t always lead to a dividend increase. However , in this instance it should. In her statement where she announced the buyback she stated “ The Board intends to return the entire net proceeds to shareholders through a £235 million share buyback, which is expected to commence today.”
How you return all proceeds to shareholders via a buyback is to buyback the shares in the open market , cancel them which leads to the respective increase in dps.
Anyway , enough about that as we’ll no doubt see in the fullness of time.
Meanwhile technical breakout in motion , should be easy to gap up from here.
Evening all.

In the UK, the Euros are free to watch on TV. I'm not sure that this is the case in other European countries. As such ITVX could be getting large viewing figures in countries where you have to pay to watch the Euros.

The July report will be crucial to ITV investors as it will confirm or not whether ITV are on the up. Reports seem to say it's doing well, better than expected, if that is the case, 90p is on the cards sooner.

Pity we don't hear more from the management.

After visiting the free ITV 2022 thread and finding not serious, I came here and no posts. I thought I would christen this thread with it's first post on a day when ITV performed well and looks like it may be on the up.

Most things seem to be falling into place for ITV, July interim will be crucial.

Everyone’s right - depending on their own risk profile and plans.

I do have other holdings but yes ITV is my largest investment.

Everyone’s read about “not putting all your eggs in one basket” of course - but I’m pleased to hear your success story spawny100.

Another saying I like is:

“Diversification may preserve wealth, but concentration builds wealth” - Warren Buffet

So far it’s true. Let’s see where we are with ITV in another 6 months…

Yep balanced portfolio for me now. Having said that I went all in on TXP a few years back buying from 10p upwards and sold them all around 160. It paid off my mortgage and left me with enough to start an income portfolio. If I was still holding all my TXP I'd now be underwater, still have a mortgage and would have no income portfolio. So eggs in one basket did work for me but I don't think I'll ever do it again!

I have seen too many people in deep poo through getting an unbalanced portfolio because they like a company

There was a clown on the DEC thread who was £500k down and a really nice guy who had so much of a small cap he was having to make holdings declarations.

I learned my lesson long ago and have holding limits on individual stocks that I rarely cross. I have been selling ITV as I bought in the 60s to balance a big buy at 97 which I though was an absolute steal as the share price had been c 110/20 a few days earlier. Little did I know :)

I still have 28k at a smidge below 70 so it is good at the moment but, I would rather stick with ITs etc. You can still get good gains but, there isn't the volatility.

I still cant get my head around the scale of some of the swings now that I have pulled all my pensions into one SIPP and manage it myself. When you say I have a 3% holding it doesn't sound too extreme. As the pot grows that 3% can buy you a decent car. I think it makes me more risk averse and much more careful than I was.

BTW I only look at the bottom line, divis don't matter - all that matters is a progression of the pot value that beats a global equity tracker.

Cheers HUFU.

I’ve also had my share of losers like everyone else - let’s not talk about SMT. :)

But I’m really into ITV - especially to provide retirement dividends… it’s enough to live on right now - assuming no future div cuts of course. But I’ll deal with that if it happens.
