Is this a taste of those shorters running for cover?

Or, is it that Goldman and T Rowe are playing 'Pass The Parcel'?

I think thecrunk is right when he says, "T Rowe has us by the balls"

myshareinfo - post 19479. Yes, a most illuminating article. Anyone perplexed by the behaviour of the IQE share price since the autumn really should read it. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

The price action into the close tells a story....

“Run away!”

I assume, Paradores, that you refer to 721,791 shares traded at about 102p. The big question is whether they were a buy or a sell. I suspect it might be late reporting of a large buy, worked through the course of the day.

If they can't maintain it below 100p three times in a row, they'll give up.
They've had two goes. They'll try it one more time after which it'll be ""Last-to-close-your-shorts-is-a-sissy.""

Just LOOK at the after hours..!!

The USDx$m question of course is why..? To what purpose..?
What, in gaud's name, has been going on here..?!

It may all be perfectly legal and routine, but in my book the 'motive' is dubious and the 'means' employed borderline nefarious.

I don't think the derivatives could have been CFDs as they had voting rights

Still heading back to the top of the bullish wedge.

Goldman Sachs are very happy with their short-term CFD position.

(I assume short-term hence they bought derivatives instead of buying outright...CFD's !)

Why you wouldn’t be an IQE long now is beyond me, but it takes all sorts and each to their own and all that 😉

MACOM have released their Q3 results, and their conference call transcript has some rather nice commentary of the progress of GaN commercialisation - for example:

"Along these lines, in the third quarter, we saw a significant quarter-on-quarter growth in base station shipments for both GaN and FEM products."

"Our GaN and FEM products have begun to ramp across multiple customers and platforms for both macro base station and massive mono deployments. Q3 revenue included the start of early volume production on GaN shipments, supporting initial field deployments. We also expanded our pipeline of GaN design wins at target accounts, securing new business at 4.9 gigahertz.

In total, we expect our 5G base station and optical products to contribute to telecom growth quarter-by-quarter through the remainder of calendar 2018 and continue through the multi-year build-out of 5G networks worldwide."

A traditional, long-only institutional investor will look at a stock and, if they feel it is under-valued at its current price say 60p, will set a value target of say 100p and buy it up to a certain level, perhaps 70p. If they have conviction and long pockets this may hold the price at 70p for a while, perhaps weeks. Once they have got as much stock as they feel is prudent their in-house analysts will publish buy notes to their clients.
Is this price manipulation?

"Those who make their living this way do markets a big service, by seeking out and drawing attention to mispriced shares."
That is what the deluded tell themselves and their spouses when returning home after a hard days sh*fting - and need to tell themselves if they are to sleep.
When you look back on life, it is nice to think we have contributed to our rock, such participants will/should hate themselves.

Rant 2 of the day over.
Now to look at some more peaks and troughs - on my MTB. :-)
