07/8/2018 09:50 | Yes, edison reports have often been cited on here as being accurate and informative on IQE. Their paper today says that "...the shares look fairly priced at current levels despite modelling fairly unambitious photonics revenue growth (40%) in our estimates. "Fairly priced" from Edison when the share price is approx 60% of what it was 9 months ago doesn't exactly get the heart racing. | ![]() twatcher

06/8/2018 19:57 | I would assume that due to disclosure rules, they want to make sure they are not restricted in what they can present at the conference / roadshow. Let's hope the earnings announcement combined with other "pending" press releases create some momentum for the share price | yankeekraut
06/8/2018 18:27 | see post 18986 para 2, mention of roadshow...though no detail Also see here - page 2 and 3, and >IQE will resent at the Credit Suisse Technology Conference in Taiwan in September 2018. ..and yes.. someone taking "p" already noted ;-) | ![]() dr_smith
06/8/2018 18:00 | Guys I was wondering what possible conflict of events IQE would have, that they had to change the statement release date from sep to end of August ?? Apple is likely to release 3 iphone models this september. If you read Apple guidance for 4th Quarter and then read seekingAlpha report on IQE to what extent is seekingAlpha close in forecasting IQE revenue? Last question if apple are launching 3 iphone then IQE should be working day and night to get the inventory across to China and Taiwan ?? | ![]() mhassanriaz
06/8/2018 15:26 | There are a few lines in the chart. We have to break out of the wedge, then out of the longer downtrend (probably around 120), then through 160 resistance and all time high, but each time we break through we will attract new investors: lots are waiting until the trend reverses decisively. Then we will be in the sweet spot, with a rising share price, rising earnings consensus and a significant short interest. It doesn't get better than that. But we are not there yet. | ![]() mad foetus

06/8/2018 14:53 | Skyworks have just announced they're buying a semiconductor supplier for $405m to further their IOT and AI strategy: "Skyworks to Acquire Smart Interface Innovator Avnera Corporation Business Wire•August 6, 2018 Avnera Adds Highly Differentiated Analog/Mixed Signal Audio, Voice and Speech Processing Engines Substantially Expands Skyworks’ TAM in Synergistic, High Growth Applications Extends Reach across Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Enterprise and Automotive Markets Expected to Enhance Skyworks’ Gross Margin and be Immediately Accretive to Earnings Anticipated to Close by September 2018 Skyworks Solutions, Inc. (SWKS), an innovator of high performance analog semiconductors connecting people, places and things, today announced it signed a definitive agreement to purchase Avnera Corporation, a leading developer of Analog System on Chips (ASoCs). Acquisition of Avnera, a private fabless semiconductor supplier, augments Skyworks’ leadership in wireless connectivity by adding ultra-low power analog circuits to enable smart interfaces via acoustic signal processing, sensors and integrated software. Upon consummation of the transaction, Skyworks will expand its addressable market by over $5 billion. Target applications include AI speakers/microphones “Voice is increasingly becoming the primary interface for artificial intelligence and Internet of Things applications. Skyworks’ acquisition of Avnera will enable us to capitalize on the rapid proliferation of audio functionality and its convergence with our advanced connectivity solutions,” said Liam K. 06/8/2018 10:43 | Presumably the idea of shorting is to push the share price as low as possible in order to buy back the shares cheaply and crystallise a profit. The share price has now been hovering around the £1 mark for some time with little movement either way so any new short positions are making little in the way of profits. Marshall Wace appear to be the only major shorter that have opened high in April but have now crystallised much of their profit by reducing their position over the past month. So what is the benefit now of retaining the share price around the £1 mark if the price isn't likely to drop any further? Is the price being held low by a concert party of shorters acting on behalf of somebody? T Rowe for example, whilst they increase their holding? Acting in concert is illegal if proven so maybe unlikely. Does IQE have a competitor whose investors are deliberately trying to trash their share price in order to scare off customers, and therefore help their investment?Or is somebody trying to make a move for the company without attracting the hoards in order to keep the price low.Interesting times | ![]() cheek212
06/8/2018 10:18 | If I had been wise enough to short last year I think I would get out around the current price. If I were to wait for a major catalyst it might wipe out all of my profits and more. | ![]() doc1975
06/8/2018 09:58 | the shorters are not done here; the latest share price movement is a head-fake. It has happened many times over the last 6 months. Until a major catalyst "shows up", this aint going anywhere. | yankeekraut

06/8/2018 09:09 | One day Doc. Once true value is realised in the shareprice of course :-) It is very real that with the £ being so weak and shareprice low at present this is a golden opportunity for a US tech predator to snap up IQE on the cheap. | ![]() american idiot
06/8/2018 09:01 | No, that’s too cheap if it’s an Apple bid. I think £3 is fairer, they have plenty of money and the £ is weak vs most major currencies so we need an extra premium. Also as they have benefitted hugely from British talent (Jonny Ive) they should pay up! If only hey. | ![]() doc1975
06/8/2018 08:55 | Sure Doc1975. I'm sure I can rustle up some reason for a rapid rise to 200p for you. How about... Apple launch a 200p+ bid for IQE ? | ![]() american idiot |
