Al-Baker also said Qatar Airways would continue to support British Airways owner IAG (ICAG.L) after increasing its stake in the airlines group in February.

“It is a strategic investment. We will continue to be an investor in IAG,” he said. “If it is necessary, yes, we will inject equity into IAG.”

mik.Just for a dummy like me,please clarify the ownnership percentage rules on Brexit.
I agree with you no nationilasion, but BA as a seperate entity,ie back out of IAG,and have its own sharelisting, seperate to the remnant IAG listing would be beneficial.

jailbird.....who issued this statement please.

Have to say I find it concerning for employees that UK GOV doesn't appear to give a fig for them and is only offering support from the DWP , which will place a further substantial burden on the taxpayer.....

Smithy.....no way BA will be nationalised. It is the crown jewel in IAG's stable .

I have no doubt though, that if BA could 'go it alone' , it would be in a much better position , without having to subsidise the rest of IAG's airlines.

The question is, how could BA operate within Europe after Brexit , if it is more than 50% owned by British Investors ?

If we see any senior position moves across to IAG, my guess would be “the strategy move” is a Re-nationalisation of BA from IAG.

Raab was very cagy discussing BA the other day. There will be issues with hard brexit that both government and IAG know are there.

You don’t get more brexity than a national flag carrying airline. You might get the proletariat off the scent of fishing rights for a start...

962.....I would search from outside BA. I still don't understand why all but one of the IAG Group CEO's are Spanish ??

Why has Walsh got this fascination with Spain ?

I believe that BA would be in a better position now, had it not been part of IAG.

Legal technicality with the 188 notification means trouble for BA going forward with it's Masterplan
