Investors were in a spin about Hurricane Energy after the oil and gas firm announced a successful oil discovery.
The business, which is focused on the UK Continental Shelf in the North Sea, said the Lincoln Well might be larger than it originally estimated.
Analysis has suggested the firm's estimations of the site containing around 250m barrels of recoverable oil may have been on the conservative side.
Cantor Fitzgerald has a 'buy' rating on the stock, which it said has had a transformational year.
Shares are already up a mammoth 310 per cent this year. Yesterday they surged 11.9 per cent, or 5p, to 47p.

The Fund believes the addition of Halifax has the potential to significantly increase Hurricane’s resource base, which already has the potential to be as great as 1 billion barrels of oil.
The Fund expects further positive news flow over the coming months, as Hurricane releases the drill results of Lincoln and Halifax. We believe these results should serve to de-risk the asset base further and may attract potential partners.

Just a note the rig has a status of underway
its changed from moored due to the high winds presently 47
none of the 8 anchors will have been lifted presume its using own power that has to kick in to hit back against swell etc

Exactly...And if the Co are going to try to raise more money by various means then the CG is so so important.
Not least because perhaps the Co might be taken more seriously...By some

AIM is good until you get to say £500m size company and then perhaps one should question the management as to why they have not "upgraded".
Regulations are stiffer for ftse cos, ftse companies do get more coverage and a lot more press coverage ,attracts more run of the mill ii funds, we will run alongside the ftse companies with our market cap being the size it is ,we will have to wait and see, perhaps a good question for the next agm

Is Hurricane a candidate for entry into the FTSE 250, and if so, when?

im erring to that too gregpeck.

if reserves are proven in the numbers Dr T is talking about then if a major comes in with something like £1 representing a 100 pct markup its also getting an apparent bargain. Why waste further time when the share price could be at 70/80p?

I also love the fact the share price hasn't shot up to provide a shorter's target. If anything a very subdued rise given the news and hopefully a slow steady climb supported by the HUR press release team.

Nice problem to have. It's easy to get carried away but does seem to be like shooting fish in a barrel at the moment. I do need to remember it won't always be like this !..... Or will it ! :-)

The thing is if Halifax comes in we could be talking about the largest field in the North Sea..

With that in mind I still think BP or another will take us out before the result...

Well going back to 2014, did Cameron not visit under the guise of Scots Referendum?
First PM in Shetland since Maggie 34 years previous. Media "silence" no real surprise perhaps, a bit like peeps wondering all those years ago why we went to the Falklands!!!!

In the proactive interview I believe Dr T says that Halifax is about 30 miles from Lancaster BUT could be connected if oil/water contact depth similar. If that came in my God...what balance of payment problem? Wee Sturgie will also be watching with interest.
